Kiefer Sutherland Halts '24' To Undergo Surgery

Production has been halted on the hit Fox show '24' as Kiefer Sutherland undergoes elective surgery to deal with a ruptured cyst near one of his kidneys, PEOPLE reports. "We are temporarily suspending production of '24' while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure," the network says in a statement. "We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season's episodes."

The medical problem is not considered serious, and the disruption to '24' is expected to be brief.

"While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work (this) week," a rep for Sutherland said.

worst season of all...Everyone got off tract and it became the Renee and Dana show. Jack wearing glasses and driving a sedan helped the show lose credibility. And all that interpersonal relations mess with Dana and her boyfriend, Freddie Prinz, "24" became a joke... no one walks out of CTU to do away with crooks in the middle of a national security disaster...The show is not going out on top...sorry

I am not a television watcher, but I never miss 24. It is so well written and the acting is great. I will truly miss it if it is cancelled.
