Michael Jackson's Kids 'Slowly Coping'

Michael Jackson's three children, Prince Michael I, 12; Paris, 11; and Prince Michael II ("Blanket"), 7, have been trying to gain a sense of normalcy since their father's death in June. With the support of their grandmother and guardian Katherine Jackson, the children are "slowly coping."
One source tells
PEOPLE that Prince and Paris have become more confident over the past several months. "It would have been hard to imagine them going out in public or showing up at someone's house hanging out and playing video games before [their father died]," says the source. "That had a lot to do with Michael, because every time he showed up there were bodyguards and [chaos]. And now, not so much. It feels much more normal and they've adjusted really well to that."
"They're doing great, thanks to the love and support they've gotten," Adam Streisand, an attorney for Katherine Jackson said.
Katherine is raising the kids with their former nanny, Grace Rwaramba, who had stopped working for Michael before his death but returned afterward upon Katherine's request. Sources reveal "nothing over-the-top happens" at home and she is trying to have the children live as normal a life as possible. And now when the children go out in public to karate lessons or to the library and church, their faces are no longer concealed. "They like not wearing the masks," the family source says of the trio. "It's a different experience for them."
"Katherine really listens to the kids," says Streisand. "She wants to give them a sense of freedom when she can. She wants to encourage them."
Their father's influence lives on though. "Talking to Prince is like talking to Michael," says the family source. "He's so smart and mature – way beyond his age." Paris, meanwhile, "wants to be a singer."

Yeah..........IF you are stuck in 1983.
Honestly, he had one great album, one revolutionary dance move. IT WAS 27 YEARS AGO! Pop music has moved on & left Jackson behind.

Ok, so all stars of the past are has beens? The Stones, Beatles, and on and on are called legends and pioneers. Why can't MJ be a legend he single-handedly invented pop music. He fused r&B and rock and it became pop. Also, Thriller was by far not his best album, but just his largest selling album. An as for the moonwalk, he only did that dance when he performed Billie Jean. There is so much more to MJ than just Thriller and the Moonwalk. Give me a career spanning 1969-2001. I say 2001 because that is when his last album came out which was multi-platinun. And last, I saw the film This Is It and Jagger or McCartney wish they could move like that 20 years ago. So please lay off the has been, because they were calling Elving a has been right before his death and then soon after he became a legend and rightfully so.
mark- You are an idiot. King is an ICON, SHAPED Pop music. BASIS for all we view today. Wake up fool. Why Thriller inducted into national archives? KING IS LEGEND. Legends LIVE. King's music as TIMELESS as Beatles, you are STUCK in stupidity. Definition of ICON. Anyone who concurs with your statement is just as dumb. THRILLER REMAINS WORLD"S GREATEST SELLING ALBUM. Children are his whether biological or not,PER LAW. Not opinion. Personally, they resemble him. Don't care either way. LOVE ALL JACKSONS. I LOVE YOU MICHAEL. God bless Joseph and Katherine. King CANNOT be dethroned. Bashers lack heart and intelligence. They are merely jealous, and powerless.
i agree with you, but, ELVIS is still the king of rock and roll. some of his music may be dated, but just listen to 2 of his songs, suspicious minds (1969) and burning love (1972), they still sound GREAT today, and better than alot of garbage that is out now!!!
Right on Mark. How frickin true. And it just goes to show you how many people live in the past in this country. Music is progressive, it changes with the times. 'Pop' is derived from 'popular'. Of course a huge percentage of music can remain 'popular' throughout the years. Jackson's legacy depends on that. His brand of 'pop' barely progressed beyond the 80's. That may have been his choice (or his curse) but it definitely shows a lack of progression and, ultimately, only a FLASH of genius...and how often have we seen that in the music biz?
agree with mark and lady g. sure "thriller" was an excellent album, even though the title track and video were pretty hokey. but what else was great after that? very little. his "off the wall" album was earlier and may have been better. as for his 'moonwalk'? so what, it was a neat move and who can say for sure it belonged to him in the first place? it certainly didn't change dance. never saw it on any dance floor i was on, and there were plenty. so in the 20 years since the 80's ended, what has michael jackson actually contributed to pop music that should earn him anything more than the "King of 80's Pop Music"? and don't say 'blood on the dance floor'!! lol
I beg to differ mark. With the exception of words such as "boogie" and "tenderoni", when you hear MJ's music on the radio it fits right in with whats being played today. It doesn't sound dated at all. Children and young people love Michael's music just as much today or when he died as those of the past. i liked all of his work, however Dangerous happens to be my favorite of his, but Invincible certainly was great as well. Each album he put out he was always sure to work with the best producers and I'm sure that if he had not died he would have put out another great one.
Hi Mark,
His music is way better in most cases than what we are hearing today. His dancing, no one will match anytime soon. He is the King and will always be the King of Pop. Have a nice day.
Cscott
lol, surely you gest!! Before Thriller: Ever heard of a little group called THE JACKSONS? YouTube them and find out, also before Thriller: 'Off the Wall'- I think there was one or two hits on that. Let's see, after Thriller: Man in the mirror,Dirty Diana, SMOOTH CRIMINAL,Black or White, Remember the Time,Jam, Will you be there, You are not Alone, Scream, You rock my wolrd. Those are only the ones I could think of. He's the King of Pop for a reason, maybe you should check it out. Peace
You seem to forget the other 5 albums he put out from 1991 - 2001, Where have you been? Wake Up and get your facts straight.
His resume is filled from the 60's all the way to 2009 of awards for many reasons other than music. He's done so much for the world. Plus each album got better and better and his dancing kept improving and got better looking in the meantime.
Pay more attention to the world, the fans that know the truth, not the media. They're nothing but a bunch of satan's spawns.
I'm surprised by now nobody knows this. And you want to be judgemental?
Do us fans a favor, go back to sleep, nighty night choo choos.
No way those kids have 1 drop of his blood in them!!
Reply
Whether or not they are related by blood is open to question, they look nothing like him. But being a parent is more than simply have the same genetic code. Michael consider these kids to be his children and they considered him to be their daddy. That makes them his kids and him their father. Live with it!
ambimas- Who are you?
Who the hell cares if they dont have a drop of his blood you idiot!!! Blood means NOTHING!!! They were "his" children ~ and you are just jealous to not have the life those kids had and will have!!
Like it matters......those are his children..This is such a stale subject....EVOLVE..
LadyGagMe- Gag yourself. Every Pop artist from Lady GaGa, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Britney, UTILIZES KING's influence. GaGa's Love Game appears to be an almost identical replica of Jackson's Bad video. Agree with mark as you like. FACT dictates no one in Pop music seems to "progress" as you put it, without using King's influence as a basis. Furthermore, these artists as well as countless others, have admitted the influence King has had on them. Many have stated they wouldn't be where they are if not for him. Day King died referred to as DAY MUSIC DIED. Rightfully so. No one can touch him. Invincible.
fiona- Return to fantasy land. Shouldn't keep Shrek waiting.
