Michael Jackson's Kids 'Slowly Coping'

Michael Jackson's three children, Prince Michael I, 12; Paris, 11; and Prince Michael II ("Blanket"), 7, have been trying to gain a sense of normalcy since their father's death in June. With the support of their grandmother and guardian Katherine Jackson, the children are "slowly coping."

One source tells PEOPLE that Prince and Paris have become more confident over the past several months. "It would have been hard to imagine them going out in public or showing up at someone's house hanging out and playing video games before [their father died]," says the source. "That had a lot to do with Michael, because every time he showed up there were bodyguards and [chaos]. And now, not so much. It feels much more normal and they've adjusted really well to that."

"They're doing great, thanks to the love and support they've gotten," Adam Streisand, an attorney for Katherine Jackson said.

Katherine is raising the kids with their former nanny, Grace Rwaramba, who had stopped working for Michael before his death but returned afterward upon Katherine's request. Sources reveal "nothing over-the-top happens" at home and she is trying to have the children live as normal a life as possible. And now when the children go out in public to karate lessons or to the library and church, their faces are no longer concealed. "They like not wearing the masks," the family source says of the trio. "It's a different experience for them."

"Katherine really listens to the kids," says Streisand. "She wants to give them a sense of freedom when she can. She wants to encourage them."

Their father's influence lives on though. "Talking to Prince is like talking to Michael," says the family source. "He's so smart and mature – way beyond his age." Paris, meanwhile, "wants to be a singer."

these kids are no more michael's than they are mine...when are you people gonna cut the crap and get down to the issue of introducing them to their real father and let them spend time with their mother, instead of their handlers?

When Dr. Murder shows up in court with a signed "Informed Consent", I'll put the fault on Michael.

I judge people by their actions not by the color of their skin. To defend a guilty man because he is black is reverse racism. I'm sure OJ is innocent too.

Seriously i think everyone needs remind themselves that you cant believe everything you hear, a lot of it it tabloid garbage and has no credibility. Michael Jackson was a great parent and the only parent these children had. Its obvious how much they loved him and how much he loved them so discussing the paternity of the children is no way respectful.

In relation to this article i have to say that MJ gave them as much normalcy as he could in his life. he wasn't a normal person like the rest of us, and the masks were simply for protective purposes. This article makes it seem that they are better off without the father, which in fact is not true. They are the ones that know the truth about their life with their father and no 'sources' can really judge how they are feeling. Even now they are photographed more than ever.

sammy- Would like to add, masks, nanny a request by mother of first two children, Debbie Rowe. I believe biological, wanted them protected. Stated during Bashir interview, when questioned about zoo trip, why not let them go alone with security? King made clear didn't trust security, if something to happen to chlrn, let it be they were with him. I believe he created a smoke screen. For protection. Biological.

I believe since public, media, fell for whatever King said or did, took everything out of context, believed he didn't father children, why not play along? Dissuade kidnappers and the like. Although he stated he was the father, it seems no one believed him. "Is It Scary", Michael Jackson. I think we really scared him too.

OK, these children are no more Michales Jackson Biological kids than they are mine or yours. BUT, it does not matter. People adopt kids who are not theirs all the time. I think he should have just been upfront about this but he was so ashamed to be black and wanted his kids to be white. They ARE his kids and will get ALL from his estate. Just like any other adopted child would get. I just hope they grow up somewhat normal. I doubt it though....the media will NEVER let these kids alone...not for the rest of their lives. AND what about Blanket???? He is the ONLY one that somehow looks like he COULD be Michaels...and he will NEVER know his mother. I am sure MJ got this women from some backwards town in the world and paid her off to shut up...OR, she had NO idea of WHO the famous father was when she gave birth...She was paid a LOT I am sure. Leave the kids alone...let them grow up and just be kids if they can be. I DO think one day the kids WILL want DNA tests done to see WHO their REAL father is. I am sure its the same man for both the older kids....I say its the Plastic Surgeon....the older boy looks JUST like him.
