Christina Hendricks Is Sick of Talking About Her Bodacious Bod

New York magazine's Valentine's gift to the world? Sporting the voluptuous Christina Hendricks of 'Mad Men' as their cover girl. The feature attempts to transcend the talk of Hendricks' traffic-stopping curves, but with a headline like "Woman of the Hourglass" and pulse-pounding lingerie photos, who are they trying to kid?

This comes weeks after Hendricks' Golden Globes outfit drew controversial comments from the New York Times ("You don't put a big girl in a big dress") and the ire of Hendricks' actor husband, Geoffrey Arend.

All the talk about her body: "It kind of hurt my feelings at first. Anytime someone talks about your figure constantly, you get nervous, you get really self-conscious. I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body! It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth."

People try to miscast her in motherly roles: "The way we dress on 'Mad Men' is so associated with old photographs, with people's parents and grandparents. In person, I wear jeans and flip-flops and people are so shocked. They tell me I look so much younger than they expected."

Working on 'Mad Men' is a walk in the park: "We're really spoiled on 'Mad Men.' Lots of television actors use the down season to go out and get creatively fulfilled, but I feel the opposite. Anything else I get to do is just icing."

This woman is not fat. I am amazed at some of the catty remarks by women. Most men want a woman with a body that is fuller. Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, those were white women who looked like women. Now being overweight is not healthy by any stretch of the imagination, but to call her overweight is a H-U-G-E- S-T-R-E-T-C-H of the imagination of envious women. You Go Girl!!!

Look at that body symmetry. She looks like Madonna. Except better. And fresher. Or just fresh maybe. Good thing there's really not that much here attributed to the way her make-up's done. Which is good. Clearly makes it less of a reason for women to gen inferior about. How can you possibly not die with your heartbeat's up while staring at this image sick with hypertension or something heart-related?

I loved her in Firefly, love her even more in Mad Men. She's a very good actress and some day I'd like to see what she could do with a dramatic movie role. Of course, the fangirl in me would also like to see her reprise her character Yosaffbridge in a Serenity sequel.
