Sarah and Bristol Palin Slam 'Heartless' FOX Sitcom

So this is awkward. 'Family Guy' lampooned Sarah Palin's son Trig's Down syndrome during Sunday night's episode. Problem: The cartoon and the former vice presidential nominee both call FOX home.

In the episode, Peter Griffin's teenage son Chris takes Emily, a girl with Down syndrome, on a dinner date. Their interaction is brief, but Emily slips in a blatant Palin reference when asked what her parents do: "My dad's an accountant, and my mom is the former governor of Alaska."

As she is wont to do, Palin took to her Facebook page to respond in a post titled "Fox Hollywood - What a Disappointment." The governor-turned-FOX News star actually turned the reins over to her daughter, Bristol, for the majority of the reaction missive. Bristol called 'Family Guy's' Seth MacFarlane and co. "heartless jerks" in a blistering paragraph:

"Insults directed at [my] youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you'll ever meet. As a culture shouldn't we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed."

Sarah Palin called the 'Family Guy' jab "another kick in the gut" (without acknowledging who precisely delivered the previous kick or kicks), adding that Bristol's remarks constitute "a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make." More than 7,500 Facebook fans have "liked" the post. The video in question below:

As a special Education teacher I am THRILLED to see an individual with Down Syndrome act as a real person! People don't expect developmentally disabled adults to have the same wants, needs or a personality as 'everyone else'. Seth MacFarlane, thank you for empowering this character....To keep individuals, esp. with Down Syndrome in a box of preconceived notions, keeps them there. This character was a real-life portrayal of students I have the blessing to work with. Right on!

This is ridiculous. Sarah Palin and her daughter really need to go away. As if Bristol even wrote that Facebook post! HA! Mom was probably leaning over her shoulder telling her what to write. Oh wait--mom's not that smart either. Must have been an adviser or speechwriter.

It was done in fun. Seth may be a self serving blow hard but his show is terrific. The "palin Pest" have the option not to watch. Maybe her fans should "Boycot Fox" for fallen governor palin. No, she should quit Fox and show here real balls. Take a real stand palin.

Ye she scares dems and she should scare pubs, too. She should scare anyone who cares about this counrty. Sarah Palin is an acciednt looking for a place to happen. You can fuss about President O all you want but the fact remains that this country was on the edge of a cliff and he brougt it back. All your hyperbole can't change that fact. He had to spend a lot to do it but there was no other choice. Pubs continue to rail against it yet they take credit for the progress it brought to their home districts just like Obama said. Palin signifies nothing.

Seth Mc farlen is laughing all the way to the bank for this episode and fox is not going to cancel this show at all. They tried doing it to Married With Children and it only made the show more popular then ever. I think Sarah Palin and her hypocrite daughter should just shut the hell up already. John McCain knew exactly what he was doing when he brought this lunatic along with him on the presidential run. He really didn't want the job as president otherwise he would have picked someone with half a brain and not this crazy be-otch.

Palin is a loud mouth pig and I love the fact that it would appear from recent news that her husband was running alaska from the background...priceless!!!!

Excuse me for breathing but the show made no fun of Trig at all. It did not imply or even mention his name. It's is Palin and Brisol that put Trig's name in it. The show took some liberty in implying that Palin was the cartoon character's mother but the girl's name was Emily not Trig. It is the folks who want to make it an issue that put the baby in the girl's place. It is Palin and Bristol who associated Trig with the show. Trig is sitting at home being a baby and minding is own sweet business, yet his mom and his real mom (oops that slipped) are making something out of it. My friend who has down syndrome thought it was hilarious. If you want your child to be treated normal than you should stop looking for problem where there are none. Why are you all made at Obama...he didn't say it. The Family Guy has done and said thinks to offend many races and cultures but no gave a hoot about that. People don't their skin color either but Obama has been called every name in the book which by Palin's way of thinking means that they are insulting his children, too.

Anyone with half a brain that watches Family Guy knows that it is totally irreverent and nothing is off limits. There have been times when I thought it was a bit over the top and I just changed the channel. The Palin's are just thin-skinned, intolerant and not very bright. I think Trig must be the smart one in that family. Sara, on the other hand, seems to be mentally challenged.

I totally agree with Linda Graye's opinion. Chris liked the girl, and I thought her character was smart and sassy. I totally enjoyed this episode. It is a cartoon, people!

You people are so sad and lame. Nothing should be off limits. Who cares if its about abortion, retards, racism, or whatever. Jokes are just harmless jokes.

I understand if a joke advocats violence, like that Norte Dame fruit joke. Violence is another story. But simply name calling and insulting people is harmless.

Personally I didn't think the joke was funny, but not because it was offensive. It just seemed like a lazy joke that made little sense in context.

But these nuts who say "children and retards should be off limits" need to take a deep breath.
