Colbert, Bublé Sing 'O Canada' Set to 'Star Spangled Banner' Tune

Stephen Colbert traveled to the 2010 Olympics as part of his duties as sponsor of the U.S. speed skating team and joined Michael Bublé for a celebration in Vancouver.

While enjoying the festivities, he asked the Canadian crooner to sing 'O Canada' with him -- only it was set to the American National Anthem's music. Watch and Enjoy

Disgraceful. Watch and enjoy? Are you kidding me?! This site is a disgrace to Americans and those served to give you the rights to be openly stupid and mock them openly. This is OUR anthem and how dare that sleaze of a human being Colbert think this is cool, Buble is "the man" (I'd think they did gender checks at the Olympics...but oh well)...Colbert makes me feel dirty whenever I see his disgusting personage on the TV to the extent we do not ever have him on the screen in our house. People had better realize there are things that shouldn't be messed with and this is one of them. We will kick your ASS Colbert if you keep disrespecting our country. Like it or get the hell out!

If our border authorities were doing their job Colbert would be deported and never allowed to re-enter Canada. This is disgraceful. If a Canadian did this in the US they would be severely reprimanded. Why is our silly ass press even giving him airtime.

Vanoc bastardized the Canadian Anthem at the opening ceremonies so I guess it is open season. Americans would go ballistic if someone purposefully messed up their anthem. This kind of stunt is what Colbert is famous for but Micheal Buble, Hometown Hero, how could you?? You don't mess with the anthem, anyone's anthem - it's not funny. And yet the crowd was laughing and singing along. I am so disappointed with my people.

This is the type of thing that makes me proud to be Canadian. We don't take ourselves that seriously. The last thing I want to see in this country is the type of blind, blunt, boneheaded nationalism that permeates many other countries. I think it demonstrates character more than anything else. A mark of humility is the ability to laugh at oneself, it also implies a willingness to self-reflect. We still have a long way to go on the last one, but the I'm proud of te way we embraced Colbert and saw it for what it was: Just a guy having some and satirizing that which I personally despise (Blind nationalism).

The words to the "Star Spangled Banner" were written b Francis Scott Key. But the music came, according to the sources that I have read, from an old drinking song. So why do you think that it is not OK to sing "Oh Canada" to that tune? Lighten up people!This tune is not owned by the USA.
