Monroe, you are so right, it's about choice and the people of this magazine choose not to use her. For the life of me why are so many making such a big deal out of this. Personaly I don't care who's on any cover of any magazine. If I buy a Magazine its basised on what's inside of it that has value to me. I bet the only ones that are up in arm's about her not making the cover are over weight African American women. Oh right, thats 1/2 the population in America. So I guess they need to have there voices heard as well.

If you walked into any government office here in Chicago, you'd think fat, black woman made up 100% of the population...
"Hard on the eyes" is being too kind. I've seen better looking blue ribbon winners at 4H meetings.

That's why I won't ever buy "Vanity Fair", it's all about pristine vanity. Those white women on the cover? Only 2 or 3 will have a longer career 12 months from now, only one 5 years from now. This young lady was spared.

that woman is simply to fat.sisters back up from the table i'm not racist i'm african american.

i think its sad to see negative about gaborey, you people do not know who she is so you cant judge her on her physical appearance only. we should be applauding her great performance in the movie precious, because she did a fine job...

I've never heard of that Vanity magazine before and now that I have, I will certainly forget about it, so, I don't really care who's on the cover or not...
Anyway, love her personality, really wish her the best!

Well Vanity Fair is not known for its duverse array of cover subjects I can literally count on one hand the amount of times I have seen a Black person on the cover of their magazine and surprise surprise I am thinking of Beyonce and President Obama....I do appreciate Gabby's attitude basically yeah it was probably racist but I still got mine b/c I got to be featured anyway which is the more important thing. I was watching the "Wendy Williams" show this morning, and she mentioned it may be not so much a race thing than a weight thing, which could be true considering years back VF featured a similar Hollywood wissue with actresses Kerry Washington and Rosario Dawson that both appear to be like a size -0 lol. But whatevs congratulations Gabby! Wishing you well at the Oscars and this new beautiful life that are entering into God Bless girl!

It makes no sense because there is a story about her inside the issue. Screw you vanity fair, I am white and I am so tired of seeing the same boring white people all the time.

I have to admit that I don't see much of a future for Gabourey either, and it has nothing to do with her skin. Unfortunately it does have to do with her size. In our look-obsessed culture morbidly obese people do not fit in in Hollywood unless they are stars of "The Biggest Loser". Our society worships skinny, fit people. And Gabourey needs to lose weight...it's obvious. She can not be healthy. I'm not saying that she needs to be the size of Naomi Campbell, but maybe the size of Oprah. Oprah is a total hypocrite if she "loves" her new favorite actress so much, but doesn't help her reach a healthy weight.

Hell the magazine would have weighed too much for almost anyone to carry,if she was on the cover.

Gab has a strong personality with good attitude.

Gab is an innocent and just a victim of criticism of the people who hates her.
