Berry Gordy's Nephew Was Mitt Romney Foe on Plane

A member of the party rap group LMFAO was the supposed "goon" involved in a plane dust-up with former-and-likely-future presidential candidate Mitt Romney this week, TMZ has revealed.

Sky Blu, real name Skyler Gordy (Berry's nephew), disputes Romney's side of the story -- that he became "physically violent" toward the pol after being asked to raise his seat-back. According to the rapper, it was the Republican former Massachusetts governor that got aggressive with him first in the Monday melee.

Gordy claims Romney began yelling "Sir! Put your seat up!" repeatedly before laying his hands on him.

"I see him reach over and grab my shoulder, and I just react boom," Gordy said in a video confessional, making a gesture suggesting he swiped Romney's hand away from him.

"I didn't take it any further than that, I just told the man not to touch me."

Romney and LMFAO were on the same Air Canada flight (in the economy section) leaving Vancouver, where the Olympics are being held. According to Romney's spokesman, he asked the man sitting in front of him (Gordy) to move his seat up until the flight took off. Violence ensued and Gordy allegedly tried to strike Romney, who supposedly "did not retaliate."

Airport police were summoned and Gordy and his LMFAO band-mate/cousin Stefan Gordy were escorted off the plane.

In the video posted on TMZ, Gordy said that he and Romney had cooled off and agreed to let the incident go. But it was too late, since police had already arrived to take the rapper away to seek another flight. No arrests were made. Gordy called the whole thing "unfortunate" and said he believed Romney was probably a "nice guy."

On Wednesday, Romney decided against pressing charges against Gordy. A wise choice as the politician is busy on a book tour and just yesterday spoke at CPAC, a political convention for conservatives.

LMFAO are known for their party-time-excellent tracks 'Shots' and 'La La La.' Skyler Gordy is Motown founder Berry Gordy's nephew, while Stefan is the music legend's son.

I dont think anyone in the situation should be judged by appearance personally. Either one of them could be the total opposite of what everyone discussing this is saying. Romney could have beat the crap out of Skyler and nobody would think so because he has a suit on, and to those of you who said this, because he is white. And Skyler could be an the type of person that doesnt start confrontations but nobody would think so because he is wearing 'clown clothes', and again to those of you who said this, because he is black. All im saying really is that nobody should judge either of the guys because no one was there. Also some of you are adults (im young) and are being very close-minded about the situation. I wouldnt bet on either of their storys being the total truth.

Do you suppose a man who plans to run for president next time is going to initiate a fight on an airplane? That's just about as likely is it would be for the rapper to be a polite gentleman minding his own business.

This is funny. Does anyone really believe that Romney, a former Govenor and maybe future president or presidential candidate is going to put his hands on some clown looking kid while he is on a plane with his wife? Yes, Air Canada is one of the best airlines left flying
around and they have alot of class. At the same time they
have a zero tolerance approach towards unruly and disruptive
passengers. The airline crews dont mess around. They
mean business!! Here in the USA , our major airlines have the
same policies in place. An airliner is not a place to act out.
The captain is in charge up front. He or she has the power
and authority and the right to kick off anyone who is believed
to be nasty.

Before touching another passenger even to ask them do something they should do, I would call the flight attendant to get it done. I'm sure the rapper over reacted and was wrong. Still I think it was foolish to touch a stranger on a plane when there are attendants who can intervene.

Oh hell. Now it's gonna turn into some big racial statement about how "the man" is keeping him down. Of course he did nothing wrong. He's just the victim of racism. He'll file an affirmative action suit because the seat on the plane should automatically go to black person no matter how many qualified applicants there are for that seat. He'll write a rap about "whitey" and have Jesse and Rev. Al picket the airlines.

"These people" don't know how to act no matter how rich & priveledged their upbringing. It's not a racist assumption as much as personal life experience that would lead a person of average intellingence to figure out who the likely trouble maker was.
