'Deadliest Catch' Star Arrested Days After Dad's Death
Just days after the death of his father, 'Deadliest Catch' star Jake Harris has been arrested on drunk driving and hit and run charges following a car crash in Washington.
Harris, the 24-year-old son of late Captain Phil Harris -- who passed away earlier this month following a stroke -- crashed his BMW and kept driving on Thursday night in Shoreline, Wa. Police eventually spotted him from a helicopter, and were eventually able to pull Jake over.
"The car was registered to his father," according to Washington State Patrol spokesman Dan McDonald.
TMZ was the first to report the arrest. Harris also had a suspended license at the time of the arrest.
McDonald says that Jake "failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a toxicological test ... After further investigation, it was found that he was involved in a hit and run with another occupied vehicle earlier in the evening. He had rear-ended another car."
Jake, along with his brother Josh, shot to fame thanks to the success of 'Deadliest Catch,' on which they fish for crab on the fishing vessel Cornelia Marie that was captained by his dad, Phil. On February 9, Phil passed away after a string of health issues that were documented on the reality show.
Following a memorial for his father, Jake Harris reflected on the empty captain's seat on the Cornelia Marie. "I'm going to be looking at that chair in a different way ... We definitely talked about it, but I just didn't expect this to happen so soon," he said.

So Joslyn James wants a personal face to face apology. Why?? She knew he was married from the get go. If she was pregnant twice as she claims I don't feel sorry for her. She knows how to NOT GET PREGNANT!!! She's nothing but a hoochie mama just like the rest of the women who came out of the woodwork claiming to have slept with Tiger. I would wager to say that probably less than 10 percent actually did. She just a big cry baby!!

Almost every judge in the USA, knows this young mans father by the tv show. I am sure the judge will take this fact into consideration while viewing the case. I hope so myself. My father died too almost 2 years ago, I havent touched a drink either. How ever we are all the same, and handle each situation differently. It was not the wisest thing to do, drinking and driving is never a good idea. Yes, he could have killed someone, and him self. But he didnt, so I hope the judge puts him on probation. That would make him think twice before doing that again. Its not like he wasnt taught any better, he just is hurting badly now.

When my father passed away I didn't feel inclined to get drunk. Mature adults are reflective at a time of death, focus on all the wonderful shared mrmories, and try to take something positive forward from it. At the other end of the spectrum are stupid punks...who get drunk, drive with suspended licenses, crash into other cars, then flee. He deserves no pity party.

For those still inclined to throw this punk a "pity party" consider that he had his licnes suspended well before his dad passed away. This guy was a mindless punk before his father's death and, mark my words, will continue to act the part of a mindless punk well into the future.

Thank God tiger didn't hurt anyone. Why was he in Washington? Tiger must be very upset losing his dad. Let's go easy on him, okay?

This poor fool deserves some counselling and a chance to work it out. I am sorry for his loss. My sincerist regret is that my father passed away before I got the time to really spend with him. I miss him every day.

Captain Phil was one of the big attractions of this show and especially of the Cornelia Marie, not his two ego grabbing kids. They only showed up later after the show became popular most likely to reap the awards their father attained. There interaction on the series just seems to scripted. I don't know this families history but I would hardly doubt they spent much time with their father when they were young. They most likely lived with their mother which is usually the case in a divorce. I hope we've seen the last of these two yahoos now that Phil has passed. I feel bad they lost their dad but he lived the way he wanted to,"HARD & FAST". Show won't be quite the same without him.But if Phil Harris is the kind of dad I think he wanted to be he'd want the judge to throw the book at him.Bring this guy down off his pedestal before he makes somebody else grieve for a senseless loss. No mercy for anyone who "CHOOSES" to drive while intoxicated.

These fisherman push life to extremes, they work hard, they spend big & they Live it up or catch-up being a Husband or Daddy briefly til their gone again back to work at sea. Large lumps of money makes one forget the stress that goes with all that. Uncle Sam taxes first health last. Friends & family need to see the signs when a loved one needs intervention. Health issues didn't seem to be a priority to those closest to Phil. As for his boys, their Dad's proof of what the future awaits them if they think they can party like a Rock Star or live life on the edge.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were all perfect?
None of us are and in one way or another we end up paying for it.Haunting memories and guilt will be in our mind for as long as we live. The society penalties, which we must accept to get beyond what ever caused our,in most cases, tamporary flaw, must be adhered to,but our ingrained flaws need a more effectual cure, wether we were "caught" or not. That is what we,and God want.Who throws the first stone?

What Tiger did is between him and his wife. It should not and is not anyone elses concern. The only reason people are in his business is because he is famous. If he was not famous, no one would even give a damn.

I feel so sorry for your loss jake but you need to keep your head together. You should know better than to drink and drive, let this be a lesson, your brother and your boat need you now.

I lost my mom when I was 27 and it really messed me up. I did some stupid stuff (drunk driving wasn't one of them) and ended up in jail but it made me realize I needed help. I NEVER condone drinking and driving no matter how bad things are.

If the court cuts him some slack because his Dad died, and the penalties are just a slap on the wrist, then everybody posting here has a right to yell, UNBELIEVABLE!! But it is too early to condemn. However, I would venture to say that many who have gone through a similar unfortunate loss, had maybe verbal sympathy from the court, but that is as far as it went. They played, they paid!!! Whoever says "the law is applied equally to all, lies to himself and to the public"

My dad died this past November. He was 87, and even though it was not unexpected, in fact he lingered for a few days, I am still heartbroken. So, I am drowning my sorrows at home. No drinking and driving for me, just drinking and staying put. I am a lot older than this kid, but he has to think, is this something my dad would have wanted me to do, and would it have made him proud? I don't think so.

I drive better when I'm drunk.
