Police and worried loved ones are searching for actor Andrew Koenig, best known for playing "Boner" on 'Growing Pains,' who went missing in Vancouver a week ago.
Koenig, 42, was last seen on Feb. 14 and missed his flight out of the Olympic host city two days later, according to a statement from TV host Dave Holmes on MaximumFun.org. Authorities are searching for the actor, who has recently been working as a camera operator on the comedy podcast, 'Never Not Funny.'
Andrew's father is Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the 'Star Trek' series and films. The elder Koenig told PEOPLE he received a note from Andrew on February 16, but it did nothing to alleviate his concerns.
"He sounded despondent," said Walter. "Nobody has seen this [note] but my wife and I."
According to TMZ, Walter and Andrew's mother Judy described their son as "suffering from depression" and "not doing good" in the days before he disappeared. Regarding the depression that may have prompted his son's disappearance, Walter told PEOPLE, "I think it's something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time. There's no single trauma. There's no episode. There's nothing of that nature."
"He went to visit some friends in Toronto and after there, he went to Vancouver," explained his father. "It's a place where he felt very comfortable. He lived there for a few years."
While in Vancouver, he was staying with burlesque artist Jenny Magenta, who took to Facebook on Friday to ask for help in finding Koenig. Numerous celebrity friends have used social media to aid the search, including Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano and Felica Day. Comedian Joel McHale wrote, "No joke, here. Soup family friend Andrew Koenig missing in Vancouver."
One-time colleague Lance Miccio told TMZ he contacted Koenig about a possible project two weeks ago but Koening announced that he was "not going to work anymore."
Andrew's most recent role was 2008's 'InAlienable,' written and directed by his dad. For four years, Koenig played Mike Seaver's affable best friend Richard "Boner" Stabone on 'Growing Pains.' He was written off the show in 1989 when "Boner" signed up for the Marine Corps. Watch a clip from that episode:
Anyone with knowledge of Koenig's whereabouts is being asked to contact Det. Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534.
Jess - how do you know he is depressed because he isn't famous anymore. Depression doesn't have anything to do with that sort of stuff. It is apparent you have no idea what depresion is. It is an illness of the mind, it is no different that a heart ailment, broken arm or anything wrong with the body. So quit being a jerk. Besides with all of that long hair he is HOT!
hahahaha robert... my sentiments exactly hahaha. so funny
And jodi, burlesque dancers "the wrong people", why don't you crawl back under that rock you poked your head up from... If burlesque dancers are a bad element you have lived a sheltered life
who really cares anyway! there are enough problems int the world today without worrying about if some celeb golfer is faithful to his wife and kids! let them deal with it and get on with their lives!
You are right on. The only person Tiger needs to answer to is Elin. The rest of us should leave him alone. He's only human, just like us. Why do we expect celebrities to be more than human?
How did this morph into the Tiger Woods story? He has nothing to do with this sad story of depression and child actors. While I really don't know anything about the guy other than his one shinning moment on TV (for what it was), I don't wish him any harm. We create these situations by shoving kids infront of cameras, telling them they are better than they really are, and then when we've gotten our laughs from them, we throw them out. Next thing you know there is some sad story about their demise. Who is really to blame?
Tiger is human alright but he's certainly not just like "us". I don't have a billion bucks and I know when to keep my pants zipped. And why is it all his fault? What about the whores that had no problem helping him cheat? Especially the one that was insulted to find he had other whores in the bag. Unreal.
And if he wasn't cute? What do people's looks have to do with being missing? No wonder America is failing. Look at what people are saying that is most important to them. Looks! Really?
He was arrested at the Rose Bowl this year carrying a poster asking people to boycott the olympics because of China's treatment of Tibet. And he went missing in Vancouver during the Olympics??? Um, are there any actual journalists covering this? it's not a difficult thing to piece together...
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

That's exactly what I was thinking ; )
Seriously, though, I hope they find the guy. Poor Chekov, no parent should have to lose a son or daughter.
