Police and worried loved ones are searching for actor Andrew Koenig, best known for playing "Boner" on 'Growing Pains,' who went missing in Vancouver a week ago.
Koenig, 42, was last seen on Feb. 14 and missed his flight out of the Olympic host city two days later, according to a statement from TV host Dave Holmes on MaximumFun.org. Authorities are searching for the actor, who has recently been working as a camera operator on the comedy podcast, 'Never Not Funny.'
Andrew's father is Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the 'Star Trek' series and films. The elder Koenig told PEOPLE he received a note from Andrew on February 16, but it did nothing to alleviate his concerns.
"He sounded despondent," said Walter. "Nobody has seen this [note] but my wife and I."
According to TMZ, Walter and Andrew's mother Judy described their son as "suffering from depression" and "not doing good" in the days before he disappeared. Regarding the depression that may have prompted his son's disappearance, Walter told PEOPLE, "I think it's something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time. There's no single trauma. There's no episode. There's nothing of that nature."
"He went to visit some friends in Toronto and after there, he went to Vancouver," explained his father. "It's a place where he felt very comfortable. He lived there for a few years."
While in Vancouver, he was staying with burlesque artist Jenny Magenta, who took to Facebook on Friday to ask for help in finding Koenig. Numerous celebrity friends have used social media to aid the search, including Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano and Felica Day. Comedian Joel McHale wrote, "No joke, here. Soup family friend Andrew Koenig missing in Vancouver."
One-time colleague Lance Miccio told TMZ he contacted Koenig about a possible project two weeks ago but Koening announced that he was "not going to work anymore."
Andrew's most recent role was 2008's 'InAlienable,' written and directed by his dad. For four years, Koenig played Mike Seaver's affable best friend Richard "Boner" Stabone on 'Growing Pains.' He was written off the show in 1989 when "Boner" signed up for the Marine Corps. Watch a clip from that episode:
Anyone with knowledge of Koenig's whereabouts is being asked to contact Det. Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534.
This story about a missing person, it's not funny if you have a family member that went missing. Oh and for Carol this story has nothing to do with Tiger ... wake the hell up you stupid bi*ch
I hope his family finds him or he turns up soon. Having a child go missing, regardless of their age, one of the worst experiences a parent can ever go through.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
To all those who think this is funny. I hope you never have a loved one missing. I understand you guys thinking of Vancouver as a party town, and assumming that he's just partying and hanging low. I did that once, took off with some people I had met, and told nobody. It was random, selfish, and lots of fun. I didn't call home to tell them I was OK. I waited two weeks to finally call. Mom told me she was just about to report me missing. She had waited because I was known to do radical things, but never anything that took me away for 2 weeks. She tried not to worry, but silently did. I was fine. I was also 22. This is not something a 42 year old does. I am now 42. I call home if I am going to be half an hour late. Think about it.
All of you people making jokes about this are imature pigs! And, yes, you can say whatever you want, but it just shows what kind of people you really are. What if it was your brother, would you still say maybe he's partying with *blank blank*, or whatever else you're saying? I wouldn't even know what to say about you people if I ever actually heard you say these things. I'd probably just walk away. Then you would know what it feels like to be alone! Pigs!
You all don't know what he's been doing seeing as he has some high profile friends and is apparently a funny guy. He's probably long over being known for being Boner. But anyway I do hope they find him alive.
Why should I care? Look at his imdb page. After "Boner", he did nothing. He's not famous anymore so I don't give a crap about him. I'll save my worry for Jennifer Anniston, I'm sick about her love life, I hope she finds true love soon.
Well....some time away if you're not feeling yourself is fine, but let some one know. If not "then" then NOW. If he/you read these msg's then take the good from them not that crumby stuff. We all know there's lots of jerks out there with jerky opinions. Surround yourself with positive people and positive things will happen. GoodLuck! Will follow up to see how it's goin.

I thought Checkov was gay? He must not have known that 42 years ago or something. . . Not that it matters. I just thought I'd heard that.
Wasn't Magenta one of the characters in the Rocky Horror Picture Show?
Hopefully the guy finds himself. Seriously.

actually, the guy who played Sulu, George Takei, is gay. Sulu and Chekov were close in the Star Trek series.
Hope Koeing is found safe :)
