Padma Lakshmi is the proud mother of her first baby! According to UsMagazine, the 'Top Chef' hostess gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna over the weekend. While we don't know any more details like the weight of baby Krishna, there's one thing even more important that's still unknown: The father of the baby.Lakshmi's rep confirmed to Us that Krishna was born on February 20 in New York City. She is the first child for the 39-year-old model and TV star.
Through her entire pregnancy, Lakshmi managed to keep the father's identity a total secret. There's no word as to whether he will be revealed now that the baby has been born.
Lakshmi's rep described her pregnancy as "a medical miracle" thanks to the 'Top Chef' star's long battle with endometriosis, a condition that can often lead to infertility.
Despite the father of unknown origin, Lakshmi has had some high-profile relationships in the past. She was the fourth wife of author Salman Rushdie. The two divorced in 2007.

Some of the post are really not on target. DC, I think you are very narrow minded. Spicemonkey, be happy she had a beautiful healthy baby, maybe it was her choice to have a baby on her own.
She is a very strong independent woman. For being so judgemental maybe you two are the ones at fault, look at your own wrongdoings!

If you look at the statistics: no dad in the home:
Over 71% of people in US prisons had no dad in the home when growing up
Much higher % of teen pregnancy
Much higher % of teen suicide
Much higher rate of violence
Much healthier for children to be raised by mom and dad in the home by almost any reasonable aggregate standard or measurement. The little girl will be missing out on so much by not having a lovind dad who can pattern how men should treat her instead of having a revolving door of non bio men of questionable motives.

Who cares who the father is! I'm not a Padma fan, I attach every stereotype to her. (It's a timesaver) BUT, at least she can afford to care for her daughter. I wish I could afford to have a child alone at my age, but it's not feasible. She and Salman were probably perfect for one another at one time. Age differences are that. Differences.

DC, you need to pick your head out of the sand... 20% is probably conservative and who cares, we are human beings thats the only classification needed...

Kate you have your head in the sand
Do some research instead of being a lemming to what the gay lobby and their "open minded" friends in the media want you to believe
Scientific well done unbiased studies put the number of gays at 1.5- 4% look it up for yourself
I cant post links here, otherwise I would, look it up for yourself, it's true
Dont fall for the mindless propaganda of a study that has been PROVEN to be flawed- what would you expect from a study done with 50% male prisoners of which many were in prison for sex crimes etc
You have been duped.
A truely open mind would research it yourself, the data is there and its NOT 10% by any stretch.
Kate
The reason it is important is: it's not natural, it's not healthy, it's not as widespread as teh gay lobby and their willing dupes in the media make it out to be.
If you did even some basic research you would see gays do NOT make up 10% of the population, it is MUCH smaller than that and WHY? because the media and their lobby have duped many of us.
If you looked at the % of people that claim to be gay and look at the % of those that were abused sexually it would blow you away. There is a HUGE statistically significant by any standard correlation between the two.
The net is, the numbers are tiny and a huge % of those identifying themselves as gay were sexually abused as kids. Do some research, if you are open minded, it will shock you.
DC you sick homophobic freak. The only percentage you should be concerned with is the dwindiling number of slovenly unevolved idiots such as yourself
who believe dinosaurs were "jesus horses" ridden by cavemen. You god is a deadbeat dad just like Padma's baby daddy. Of course that is true only if your brain is scrubbed enough to believe in religion.

Isnt it interesting the only vitrolic hatred being spewed is by the pro homosexual crowd. Ive done nothing bu politely point out real life statistics from real life studies that do not support the one parent or pro homosexual agenda.
Since I cannot reply to your message I will cut and paste your reply in order to properly tear you a new one.
"Isnt it interesting the only vitrolic hatred being spewed is by the pro homosexual crowd."
First of all, I am not "pro homosexual" I am pro-equality. I could care less whether someone has sex with the same gender and I sure as hell am not stupid enough to classify gays into a segregated mass as you do.
"Ive done nothing bu politely point out real life statistics from real life studies that do not support the one parent or pro homosexual agenda."
No you have done so much more. You have promoted bigotry and ignorance in a foul way and what is so awful is that you do it under this sickening religious guise. It makes me sick to hear you pervert religion in a manner to suit your own bigotry. Why is it that christians are supposed to be so forgiving and accepting according to the edicts of your religion, yet you are so ready and willing to segregate and admonish people?
Most studies indicate about 2% of the population is gay. However, the percentage doesn't change the fact that, approve of their lifestyle or not, everyone should be treated with respect. What if everyone who disagreed with anything anyone does treated them terribly. We would have a terrible uncivil society. Treating a person with civility doesn't mean you appove of their lifestyle.
dc, you said the grl will be missing out w/out a loving father. True. But what if the father isn't so loving, or the mother? Is it better for a child to be w/ 2 parents that fight/argue/don't care about the kids, than to have ONE that does care. I raised my son alone, never in trouble, no drugs, no drinking, Great grades in school. Now he has 3 kids, yes he is married to a woman, he has his nursing degree. I'm proud of him & myself. I don't think it's WHO raises a child, it's How! Sorry if I messed up you "statitics %) Wake up to the real world!

Statistics dont lie, the stats didnt say 100%, but HUGE correlation between crime and single parent families just like HUGE correlation, molestation to homosexuality.
You can keep your head in the sand or face up to reality.
Many Americans wont do that if it does not fit into their opinion, Facts dont care about opinions, they are what they are and they are true. No matter how incovenient that may be for many.
congrats to Padma on the birth of a healthy happy daughter she's waited so long for this and the public has no right to know who the father is if Padma doesn't want us to

Why does she have to be married? She can't be a single mother living happily with her child? She is loaded, so money isn't an issue. So what's the problem? Any woman willing to raise a child alone deserves a lot of respect. A woman doesn't have to be married to have a child.

She slept her way to the top, she is no talent, she married a guy that put her on television. Same way for most women sadly. Other women need to stop rewarding this behavior. Stop watching this bimbo.

71% is the mean.............is 90% of males
She will probably get some nanny to take care of the baby because her selfish career is more important. She is a total idiot. She has no culinary backround and yet people watch this idiot, you could have tons of REAL food critics and people that are real food artists.............but no, they did not sleep with the right person like she did, its just gross.
