Police were called to a California restaurant Sunday morning after paparazzi accused Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker of making threats and slashing tires. A video posted on TMZ shows Barker walking across a parking lot with his young daughter in his arms; the musician then deposits the little girl off-camera and joins a profanity-laced screaming match with photographers waiting in a car. In the video, one paparazzo accuses Barker of stealing his cell phone, but the drummer explained the incident to his fans on Twitter, claiming, "All the footage these lames released to the press is one sided cause they edited it."
Barker wrote,"When I'm out at breakfast at 8am in the morning the last thing I appreciate is some photographer threatening me to a fight while he's three deep. When I defend myself/my kids that don't make me a tough guy. I was outnumbered and threatened so I did what any man would."
"Paparazzi cried like young girls when it was no longer three of them against me and my kids. Didn't they remember threatening me an hour ago? What happened to the tough guys with the cameras? It was gonna be a fair fight."
He added, "Bottom line, take photos at red carpets. Take pics of hungry Hollywood starlets and douche bags that are out at clubs and bars that like it. I'm not a socialite out begging for that kind of attention. I'm a family man out with my kids. Don't get the two twisted."
According to TMZ, the paparazzi on the scene declined to press charges. No arrests were made, but a vandalism report was taken.
An X17 photographer started the whole scenario. The blam here lays with the owners of X17. The owners encourage photographers to antagonize and prevoke clebs. I personally believe that a jounralist has certian ethics and a professional standard to abide by. The video TMZ has was shot by GSI MEDIA. GSI MEDIA has a team of pros that simply DO NO CROSS THE LINE. Look back thru the years and you will see, the majority of celeb run in's usually deal with x17. I would be happy to go on air or speak to reporters and elaborate more. Thumbs up GSI! Thumbs down X17
The thing is people who are in the spotlight and make good money, will always be followed. It does not matter that their children are there. When you like to make a lot of money, being in a popular band or being in a movie, you make a lot more money then the rest of us. You put yourselfs out there and when something happend you don't like you beat the papparazzis. You should get a job in a fastfood place, because no body is interested in someone who flips burgers. I do not like one thing about this, because his child was there and I do not know how that girl reacted to her daddy beating up people. Papparazzis should be at least 25 feet away from a star if it involves their children.
I must agree- the reason these people make the money they do is because their fans want to see them and know what they are up to at all times. Leave the lime light if you dont like it!!!! I cannot stand these actors and musicians that want the money and the fame- on their terms. It doesnt work like that- as soon as you start cashing those million dollar checks- you have sold yourself to the media. Maybe Barker should move somewhere out of the view of the cameras....
I also laugh at those celebs that take issue with capitalism and corporate greed while they are making millions of dollars- and living off of it themselves- not giving it away like they expect wall street tycoons to do as well as those of us who make close to nothing. A lot of times they use their image to get people to give money- but give little themselves. They ask people to give who cannot afford to give- proportionately- we the people give a lot more than they do. Yet they can afford to do more. HYPOCRITES!!!!
Nanberg - you're an idiot. The reason these people - Travis Barker in this case - makes his money is because people want to listen to his cd's and watch him in concert. That has nothing to do with him eating breakfast in a restaurant with his family.
They get so famous because of the press they get. Don't kid yourself, there are plenty of more talented musicians out there who aren't in the lime light and therefore they don't make as much money. Idiot, I think not. Realistic is more like it.
What I think is absolutely disgusting is Travis had his little girl in his arms and gets upset with those creeps, goes after them and the cussing starts as well as the anger on both ends. I realize Travis was pissed but those TMZ jerks should have at least drove off to avoid any confrontation simply because there was a child present. If these people have a problem with the actors, singers or anyone in the entertainment field and they see a child, for the sake OF the child, be a decent human being and put that child first. Not cool guys and you should be ashamed of yourself. TMZ has proved their trash.
Why on Earth would anyone give a Rats Ass about this looser?? Please, you want the paparazzi to quit taking pics? Ok,you would drop out of the spotlight faster than William Hung. I would be emabarrased to have your tattoed pin cushion body anywhere near me. Name one thing he has ever done.....just one worthwhile thing that is.
Nobody in the entertainment business should be forced to endure this kind of invasion of privacy at any time. I don't care if they are athletes, singers, musicians, actors or anything else. They do not give away their entire right to a private life when they step in front of a camera. They are athletes and entertainers, period. You get to see them and have access to them in the context of their work (red carpets, charity events, launches, media events, etc).
Why on God's green earth do we need to know they go to Rite Aid with their children?? Why do the children have to be photographed doing something like playing in a park?? That has nothing to do with the person's celebrity.
If money-hungry media outfits cannot reign themselves in, the People will have to demand that laws be made. Being "famous" does not give a paparazzi the right to access somebody's life 24/7 - and it especially gives them no right to have access to a child.
If I was famous, I'd hire a couple thugs to follow me everywhere and tell them to punch anyone who follows me. Then I'd be the nicest guy ever to the paparazzi, on camera. Walk away and they mysteriously get punched. You can train even the dumbest of animals if you beat them enough. Paparazzi are no different. It's so idiotic to say that being followed by paparazzi is a side effect of being famous. A side effect is something that happens whether you want it to or not. Famous people do not HAVE to be followed everywhere. When people say "don't be in show business if you don't want to be followed," that's like saying "Don't marry a golfer if you don't want to get cheated on." It happened, but it didn't HAVE to happen.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
