Charlie Sheen has entered a treatment facility, PEOPLE reports, following speculation he was drinking again."As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility. He will take some time off his series 'Two and a Half Men,'" Sheen's representative said in a statement.
Sheen's wife, Brooke Mueller, is also in rehab for crack and alcohol addiction. She recently switched centers due to privacy issues.
The actor has been charged with felony menacing and misdemeanor assault after he allegedly attacked Mueller on Christmas Day. He was reported to be drunk at the time.

It seems Charlie Sheen needed a little extra incentive to enter rehab, that's all. And felony criminal charges of domestic violence can work miracles even with dyed-in-the-wool thugs! Going to rehab because you have a great extended family, a wife, lots of kiddies, financial success and a thriving career? That's for other schmucks.

And still.. we keep these people in the news giving them the attention they do not deserve.. Cancer is a disease.. drugs and alcohol abuse is a choice. Once these damned do gooder srinks and rehab people get that hint maybe folks like Charlie have a chance.. till then.. it's just a way to keep them in the public eye. Count on one thing.. I wont spend a dime of my hard earned cash on these folks

Alcohol might be a choice but alcoholism is an illness. The AMA stated so back in the 1950s. Thats why Medical Insurance pays for Rehab. Alcoholics are sick, not hoodlums.

I'm not sure if the law considers alcoholism an illness. If you have a heart attack or a diabetes problem while driving and kill someone it is considered a tragic accident. If you kill someone while driving drunk it is considered a poor choice and a criminal act. Haven't heard of anyone yet get out of a DWI by telling the judge that it was the illness and therefor not their fault. In my town a police officer who lost his job due to a DWI is sueing for lost wages claiming that his drinking problem was an illness and so he was not responsible - don't think it is going work for him.
