Susan Boyle 'Needs 24-hour Care,' Her Family Claims

After an alarming break-in last month, Susan Boyle's brothers have come forward with their concerns for her well-being. John and Gerry Boyle fear she's unable to handle the pressure of celebrity and may reach her breaking point soon. "The traveling and the whole [fame] thing is exhausting. She still has her anxieties and her loneliness," Gerry tells PEOPLE.

Boyle's older brother John claims the singer "needs 24-hour care."

Boyle's close friend, Lorraine Campbell, admits the 'Britian's Got Talent' star sometimes visits her late at night. "She knows she can come up to me anytime," Campbell said. "If she's upset, she'll stay the night. Security would bring her up to my house. I take her home in the morning. Susan stayed with me a week ago. Nighttime is a lonely time for her."

Boyle shot to instant fame during an audition for 'Britian's Got Talent.' She shocked audiences with a beautiful rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream.' Once the video clip hit YouTube, she sailed through to the finals. (Watch clips of her on the show.)

Last month, Boyle returned home to an unexpected houseguest, the BBC reported. The intruder made a run for it when Boyle arrived at her Blackburn home, and still hasn't been identified by police.

"The owner was very distressed to find someone had been within her home and we are keen to speak to anyone who can assist with our investigations," police said.

But Boyle claimed she was doing well. "I'm fine," she said. "It's in the hands of the police now."

According to reports, Boyle, 48 – who lived with her mother until she died in 2007 – has since installed 24-hour security outside her home.

EXACTLY!!! My absolute first thought before reading past the very first line of this article was, "Aha! The family is after her money!" I would suggest Miss Boyle get herself a really fantastic solicitor and make arrangements for care and money management (and NOT anyone in her family)-JUST IN CASE, and spike their guns!

Sadly, very often such sweet people who have been treated poorly by the family, often are the last ones to "see" that the family is out to get them and their money!

I agree totally. Her family will probably be "willing to stay with her round the clock--FOR A PRICE!" They will probably all have to quit their jobs to take care of her and she will have to pay them because they quit. I hope someone is watching after this woman's money--and it's NOT her family. The will state she is mentally unstable and they will appoint themselves guardian over her--and her money. The next we will be reading about her is that she broke and alone (after they go through her money they will be gone.)

I agree looks sell. She has a nice voice, but other than that, she is a 50 year old virgin with zero style and the personality of a pig. She should stick to doing voice over work in the studio because she obviously cannot handle the pressure.

Sookie, I believe YOU are the pig. You have an ugly soul. Susan Boyle is way better than you'll ever be. There is nothing wrong with her looks and what the hell do you know about her personality? She's a nice honest, down to earth person. Her CD is incredible!!!! She has an incredible voice and I can't wait for her next CD.

All of you who are hating on me on this board are pots calling the kettles black. Just because I think she needs a makeover and doesn't deal well with the public doesnt give you the right to judge me. We all have our opinions. Thats what these boards are for. I acknowledged that she has a good voice, but just think she is not good looking and lacks celebrity persona. And BTW, I am not fat I just fit into a size 0 for the first time in life the other day at 118 pounds.
