Susan Boyle 'Needs 24-hour Care,' Her Family Claims

After an alarming break-in last month,
Susan Boyle's brothers have come forward with their concerns for her well-being. John and Gerry Boyle fear she's unable to handle the pressure of celebrity and may reach her breaking point soon. "The traveling and the whole [fame] thing is exhausting. She still has her anxieties and her loneliness," Gerry tells
PEOPLE.
Boyle's older brother John claims the singer "needs 24-hour care."
Boyle's close friend, Lorraine Campbell, admits the 'Britian's Got Talent' star sometimes visits her late at night. "She knows she can come up to me anytime," Campbell said. "If she's upset, she'll stay the night. Security would bring her up to my house. I take her home in the morning. Susan stayed with me a week ago. Nighttime is a lonely time for her."
Boyle shot to instant fame during an audition for 'Britian's Got Talent.' She shocked audiences with a beautiful rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream.' Once the video clip hit YouTube, she sailed through to the finals. (

Last month, Boyle returned home to an unexpected houseguest, the BBC reported. The intruder made a run for it when Boyle arrived at her Blackburn home, and still hasn't been identified by police.
"The owner was very distressed to find someone had been within her home and we are keen to speak to anyone who can assist with our investigations," police said.
But Boyle claimed she was doing well. "I'm fine," she said. "It's in the hands of the police now."
According to reports, Boyle, 48 – who lived with her mother until she died in 2007 – has since installed 24-hour security outside her home.

Dale, you are either fat, ugly, never had a woman, or are totally desperate for a female.
Dale you sound like a very sweet caring man... Don't change.
24-Hour care? Sounds like her brothers are after her money.

It would seem from this article that her brothers are looking to eventually get her declared incapcitated so they can control her money.

She has such a beautiful voice, its a shame she is going through so much, unfortunately it is the price of fame.

I do not understand why some people have to belittle others. Who cares what she looks like, I purchased her CD to listen to her beautiful voice not stare at the cover. I was raised if you can't say something nice just don't say anything at all. I am sure all of you that are putting her down are not perfect either! Think about it..............

Susan Boyle is such an inspiration. She has had a difficult life. It is HER turn now. It is a joy to see her in all her glory. I have her CD and listen to it over and over again. May she continue on her journey and share many more CD's with the rest of the world. I thank her personally for her beautiful voice and charm. Cheery-bye Susan

We love Susan, and we love her CD. She is a breath of fresh air after Brittany and some of the other airheads. God bless and keep Susan Boyle.

It's a shame that someone would be so cruel to someone else about their looks. She is a very pretty lady. She's 48 years old. She's not Carrie Underwood! I think Susan looks great for her age.

You are one of many horses asses; doesn't make you special.
Thomas, enough of you already, you jackass. Nobody asked your sorry ass to read the article. If you don't like her , OK. but you don't have to get ugly and insult her. Just piss off and read something else.
Most mentally ill or upset people "look normal" on the outside. Sometimes you have to be around them for a while before you begin to see the real person. It sounds to me like she has PTSD from finding that intruder in her house. If you are already under stress and experience something traumatic, it can literally send you over the edge. After I was attacked in my own home, the first thing I did was move. I couldn't sleep in that place any more. It was something like 10 years before I could sleep in a more or less dark room. I hope Susan seeks treatment.

I agree with everyone who says that the "family" is just out to get control of her money.
Wouldn't be surprised to find they had something to do with the "intruder". Sounds like she has a good friend, maybe they could share a house. Susan may need 24 hour security, like any big star, but hey, she can afford to pay for it.

I believe that Ms. Boyle has some rather mild to moderate type of autism possibly aspergers which is NOT as unusual as some people think. There are many successful folks who have lead productive lives who are on the lesser side of the autism continuim. I think it is important that her brother(s) are checked to make sure that they are not trying to gain control over her in all kinds of ways including, but perhaps not limited to financial. Where have they been until now? It appears that with support (like that from her current friends and neighbors) she would be quite able to be a productive as well as gifted individual. She needs the care of people who are genuinely concerned about her well being. These might or might not be blood relations. Because she might have some issue in one way does NOT make her unable to function or stupid. She appears to have a great deal more sense and smarts than lots of folks. She's gotten this far, I think she should be just fine with her support system -- and EVERYONE needs a support system.
