The parents of missing 'Growing Pains' actor Andrew Koenig were scheduled to appear on 'Larry King Live' last night, but the couple left the studio before recording their segment of the show, E! reports. Breaking news ate into the Koenigs' allotted time -- and when King introduced the couple toward the end of the show, he found them missing.
"For some reason unbeknownst to anyone, Walter Koenig, the father of the missing Andrew Koenig, and [Andrew's mother] Judy Levin-Koenig... left the studio in Vancouver," King said during the broadcast.
"We checked them out, they were prepared to go on, I said 'hello,' they said 'hello,'" he continued. "We said we'd be on in two minutes, they said 'fine.' And they got up and left, for reasons unknown."
A 'Larry King Live' staffer told RadarOnline.com, "What I know is exactly what you saw and heard on our show."
Andrew's father is Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the 'Star Trek' TV series and films. The elder Koenig and his wife issued a statement yesterday: "I just want to know you're OK," Walter said directly to his son. "If it means you just want to stay here, that's OK. You don't have to come back. Just let us know that's your intention."
Koenig's sister Danielle also made a visit to 'Larry King Live,' but taped her segment as scheduled on Tuesday. "It's just very upsetting," she said. "My brother does suffer from depression, so we're very, very worried about him, and we just want to find him."
Andrew's most recent role was 2008's 'InAlienable,' written and directed by his dad. For four years, Koenig played Mike Seaver's affable best friend Richard "Boner" Stabone on 'Growing Pains.' He was written off the show in 1989 when "Boner" signed up for the Marine Corps. Watch a clip from that episode:
Anyone with knowledge of Koenig's whereabouts is being asked to contact Det. Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534.
That is an ignorant and sad statement. In actuality it's discrimination. Do you somehow think that as a Man whom has been a friend of JFK's and Colbert's and Jon Stewart that his AGE invalidates him. It enriches him. I would rather listen to someone of his generation than 10 ignorant ageists anyday.
Isn't Matt Koenig, the creator of The Simpson's, also his brother? They never mentioned him -- maybe Walter is hiding out with his bro... I hope he is okay...
Why don't you start a petition to kill anyone over 35? It's prejudiced people like you that we can all do without. You really should work on changing your horrible attitude.
You people should be a shame of yourselves! At the age of 88 I Drive myself to my beautician job were I work 6 hrs 4 days a week and that's not bad for somebody who has worked for 71 years!
Larry King has helped millions of people with his show. Perhaps this couple just couldn't take talking about their son anymore or having to answer the same questions over and over. At least Larry isn't Nancy Grace.
Or, for all we know, the Koenigs MIGHT have gotten some news about their missing son, and they couldn't wait to check it out. We don't know, at least not yet.
Larry is watched by millions which is why he is still on the air. Try watching those who fill in for him and view him again. He delivers with ease most of the time and makes it look easy. I dare anyone else to host it. It's called talent. Don't like it...don't watch it.
I never watch Larry King, Colbert, Maher, Stewart, The View. I also never watch the channels they're on. That aside, the young man needs to contact his parents and at least let them know he's OK. This is a sad, sad thing for the Koenig's to go through. They love their son very much, and it is just stressful for this family. King knows this. So should his audience and staff.
he was most likely partying with the klingon biathalon team and got ahold of some bad romulan ale. and "missing" by your own choice is called hiding,by the way.
The "BIG DEAL" is that he is a living person. Anyone missing is tragic and it is by the grace of God and everyones prayers that he along with other missing loved ones will be found.
Because he suffers from depression and his family don't want him to harm himself. It is extemely difficult to have a familey member who is mentally ill; you always worry about them.
the big deal is that it is a human being with a mental illness, who is lost in more ways then one. His parents are frantic... If you had these issues you would hope that you would be "important" enough to have your parents ask for help in finding you.. I am just saying.. respect it is all about respect

No kidding. Larry is so senile he doesn't even know who he's talking to half of the time. DETROIT! (cough cough) HELLO!
I agree

I agree. Some of these people havent watched him long enough to even make an informed decision.
I totally agree. Nancy probably would have dragged them through the mud the same way she did with the Ramsey family.

what's the big deal about this "kid" anyway? no more important than anyone else who's missing, and apparently, he's missing by his own choice.
