John Mayer Apologizes for Being 'A--hole' in Playboy

Continuing on his apology tour, John Mayer told New York fans that he is a different person and can't believe he ever used the N-word or referred to ex Jessica Simpson as sexual "crack cocaine" in an interview with Playboy.
"I hate to come off like an a**hole ever, and thank you guys for believing that I am not an a**hole," the singer told the crowd at his sold-out Madison Square Garden show in NYC (via
MTV News.) "It's a clean me now, people, clean me."
"Never, ever, in my entire life did I ever think that it would be a good idea to be an a**hole. But you know what? There's plenty of a**holes who think the same thing, so I have to thank you," Mayer added.
After the show, Mayer went on Twitter to ask his fans to be safe traveling home. "MSG crowd, will you tweet me when you get home safe? It's bad out. Oh, and HOLY SHNIKES. You were unreal tonight," he
wrote.
Mayer's apology comes just weeks after his now-notorious interview with Playboy hit newsstands. In the interview, Mayer explained that he was practically addicted to ex-girlfriend Simpson. "That girl, for me, is a drug," he said. "And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me ... Sexually, it was crazy. That's all I'll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm."
His casual inclusion of the N-word launched a flurry of outrage, too. In the interview, the singer boasted, "I come on very strong. I am a very... I'm just very. V-E-R-Y. And if you can't handle very, then I'm a douche bag. But I think the world needs a little very. That's why black people love me."
Asked to clarify his definition of "very," Mayer made some unfortunate word choices: "Someone asked me the other day, 'What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?' And by the way, it's sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a n**** pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, 'I can't really have a hood pass' I've never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, 'We're full.'"
Mayer used his Twitter page to offer a series of apologies, writing, "
Re: using the 'N-word' in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there's no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged."
Earlier this week, Mayer invited a New Jersey sixth-grader Austin Christy onstage after Mayer saw the 11-year-old's sign reading "Can I play 'Belief' with you?", reports
CourierPostOnline.com. Christy played for a crowd of roughly 25,000 fans and left with a guitar signed by the rocker himself, reading: "To Austin, You rock. Keep playing. See you at your show."

As a mother/grandmother/great-grandmother I like his music. He is the only "young" singer/artist that I have seen that does not use a bunch of dancers/smoke/mirrors to sell his music. He has said he is sorry...let it go!

All the apologies in the world still do not change the fact that he is a pig. Gentlemen DO NOT kiss and tell.

It was a good thing that he had the humility to apologize.
Maybe he just wants to appease his fans so they would keep buying his music?

Wouldn't an artist cultivate an expressive, nuanced vocabulary, rather than refer to himself as an "A--hole"?
As the song goes, "Whatever happened to class?"

Everytime I hear that load of crap song by him about fathers being good to their daughters I want to slap the crap out of him. He is a part of the problem and it's just pisses me off how he knows how to be so manipulative. Sings all those things in that song and then turns around and treats girls bad. Look as Jessica Simpson for example, that is a girl with some real daddy issues. Screw you John Mayer..you FAKE.

Give it up, man... Who cares? P.C. crap. "N-word", lord, blacks use it all the time. STOP THE APOLOGY. Say what you want. If people stop buying his music, so be it. I will not stop thinking or speaking my opinion. The consequences are owned by the individual.

Three 19 year old men brutally raped, murdered and mutilated three 8 year old boys. Blood evidence was located inside all three homes of all three suspects. DNA (semen) was taken from the rectums of all three little boys and matched the three men who are now in prison. Johnny Depp (a drug addict), Wynona Ryder (drug addict and thief, and Dixie Chicks lead singer, all defend the brutal child rapist, murderers. These three men who raped the three children also confessed to the brutal crimes. These are celebrities you have to ban. Don't go to their movies. Don't purchase their CD music. They are the reason why children are offended and murdered by predators. They are just entertainers out to use the brutal rape and murders of three children as a form to entertain you, the public. Anything for attention. They are parasites to our country. They are telling homicide detectives that they did not know how to do their jobs. Detectives were there, not these movie Idiots. Depp, Ryder and Dixie, stop using children to get attention. Grow A Brain!

Johnny Depp, a defender of brutal child rapist and killers. Wynona Ryder, defends child rapist and killers. Dixie Chicks, defenders of child rapist and killers. Part yourselves from these parasites who defend child predators of the most serious kind. Ban Them From Theaters And Music! Boycott Them Because Americans Never Defend Those Who Save Predators Before Our Children! Johnny Depp has a deep interest in three child predators. What Does That Tell You About Johnny Depp? Could he be another Micheal Jackson?

When is he going to stop yelling from the hilltops that he promises to stop yelling from the hilltops? Ugh. He is such a classic narcissist. He is in love with himself.

I choose to believe John because I think it's incredibly remarkable how he had the guts and the bravery to admit his mistake. Indeed, now many people concider him an idiot but If you ask me it's not fair for him. I keep shooting down the option he just stages the whole thing and he fakes his apology and last but not least this is for people's eyes. The only thing left to say here it's... He's true.

John got caught being a racist. The fact that he probably had to approve the article after he said it, was his chance to take his big mouth back. I don't think John's mature enough to handle fame. He thinks he's God. Its amazing how far this guy goes to get attention, including dating women he doesn't really care about except for his own gain. Even his apology was self promoting and way too long. I don't want to be around when the applause stops...and it will.

Would anyone date him if he wasn't a star?

Mayer is extremely immature and narcissistic. He is unable to care about anything other then himself. A father, brother or friend of one of his ex-girlfriends need to do the old-fashioned thing and beat the crap out of him for trashing their honor. Then, he may think twice before acting like a fool.
