Success is the Best Revenge For Lady Gaga

They always say success is the best revenge, and revenge is sweet for Lady Gaga. The 'Bad Romance' singer appears on the cover of the new Cosmopolitan, and Gaga admits that one pleasant aspect of her impressive rise to fame is proving wrong an ex who never thought she'd make it.

"I had a boyfriend who told me I'd never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song and that he hoped I'd fail," she tells Cosmo (via Huffington Post).

"I said to him, 'Someday, when we're not together, you won't be able to order a cup of coffee at the f***ing deli without hearing or seeing me.'"

Gaga's debut album 'The Fame' earned a total of six Grammy Award nominations -- and won the Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album. Unlike her ex, the singer always had faith she'd succeed. "I ate sh** for so long, being told I didn't fit the mold and that I was 'too pop' or 'too theater,'" she tells the magazine. "I've always been delusionally ambitious to the point where people don't understand me."

It's a life she was made for, she says, adding, "My friends joke that I'm dead until I get onstage. I'm dead right now as you're speaking to me."

I am no longer a young or middle aged man but I do admire the work of Lady Gaga. She is her own person but has a little of Cher in her outrageous but imaginative dress style. Long may she continue; someone different who stands above many of the whining, sound alike females we regard a stars these days.

arfito - you're right she's actually very pretty without all the gimmicks, but can you say Alice Cooper? My dad (RIP) wouldn't allow his albums in the house (was convinced he was a Satanist, he isn't) some people get all out of joint over the wardrobe, and don't consider the artist... she can at least carry a tune, unlike Beyonce, who can scream in three octaves...

Being a man over 60 I must admit at first I was put off by her appearance but I am captured by her abilities and her performance. Good voice, good talent, and when dressed normal, good looking as well.

She makes me GAG. Just another disco tart who's made a name with her outrageous costumes and over-the-top antics (a flame shooting bra? C'mon!) But then I'm only 59 so maybe when I'm over 60 I will appreciate her?

I agree, there are so many girls with talent. They all look and sound the same. If she decided to fall under the same cookie cutter mold that the industry throws at us she would be washed away in the sea of mediocrity. I'm glad she's wierd and stands out.
