Elliott Yamin in Chile During Earthquake

'American Idol' finalist Elliott Yamin was reportedly in Chile at the time of this morning's 8.8-magnitude earthquake.

Yamin -- who finished in third place on the Fox reality series -- was in the country for the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, and used Twitter to capture his entire experience, according to USA Today.

"Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!....I swear I thought this was the end of my life!!!!!" he tweeted.

"Complete and utter chaos on the streets...no power...," he continued. "my heart is beatin outta my chest!....tsunami warnin...I am only a mile inland!"

Yamin later spoke to a number of morning news programs, including 'Good Morning America,' 'Today' and CNN.

"The building was swaying back and forth, as was my room," Yamin -- who was in his hotel at the time of the earthquake -- told CNN. "Things were starting to fall off of the wall. The lights were starting to flicker on and off, and then that swaying very abruptly turned into ... a very violent shake."

"I just feel very lucky to have sought out safety," he added.

In other tweets, Yamin said that his medical condition is now becoming a major concern. "Imma Type 1 diabetic, and was sppsd 2 leave sunday.I only packed enuf insulin pump supplies 2 last til then....airports r closed!" he wrote.

Well maybe we should hold a summit about it, lzhutch....if it's funny or not I mean? We could get Obama to hold it and we can sit on the WH lawn, Mrs. Obama could serve us beers, apppoint an earthquake czar, have a telethon for Chile but keep the money instead to help fund ACORN......? How bout it?

Well Kate, I'm not sure what Palin "would do" nor do I care, she holds no office so it's not a valid question as far as I'm concerned on the subject. However, I have no doubt that ANYONE would make better decision's then that of our current president including Sarah Palin.

When Elliott was on AM Idol I always voted for him, in fact to this day he is the best male singer on the show as far as I am concerned...I have not voted once since he was on. My Mom was diabetic so I hope you find a place to get your insulin Elliott, hurry home when you can. It is so horrible looking from the photographs. I hope they get all the help they can. I know they are experienced in dealing with quakes but it is heartbreaking knowing how many lives are lost already.

It is amazing to me how the bigots of the world always find a way to turn every news headline into an Obama blamefest. Okay. Anyone else think something is wrong that he tweeted about it? I mean...I can only imagine this happening and Elliott Yamin thinking to himself "I must tweet about this!" and stopping what he's doing in order to do so. This is why Twitter is bad. :(
