Marie Osmond's Son Michael Blosil Commits Suicide

Tragic news for TV and music star Marie Osmond:
Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Osmond's 18-year-old son Michael Blosil committed suicide Friday evening in Los Angeles.
Blosil jumped to his death from his downtown apartment building around 9PM, according to
new details obtained by ET Online. The Los Angeles Fire Department was quickly dispatched after receiving a phone call and found a body believed to be Blosil's upon arrival.
An autopsy on the body may be conducted as early as tomorrow, says ET.
Blosil left a suicide note behind. In it, he cited a life-long battle with depression as the reason for his suicide.
Blosil was one of Osmond's eight children.
"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," Marie said.
In a telephone interview, Donny Osmond told ET, "Please pray for my sister and her family."
Marie and Donny are currently on stage in the Vegas production of 'Donny and Marie.' Tonight's show has been canceled, according to reports.
Osmond and her ex-husband, Brian Blosil, adopted Michael. Following their divorce after 20 years of marriage, Michael became depressed and in November 2007, entered rehab.
"Those kinds of things are really very hard for a teenager to deal with," Osmond told PEOPLE in March of 2009. "And if he ever wants to talk about it ... he will, but it has to be their choice. It's not my choice."
She went on to say that Michael was doing quite well, saying she "couldn't be more proud of him" and that "he's got a 3.9 GPA in high school. He's looking at scholarships to some wonderful colleges."
More developing ...

My prayers go out to Marie and the rest of her family. It's so shocking when someone so young passes away but even worse by their own hand. May the Lord be with you and I pray Michael has found peace,
R.I.P. Michael,
God Bless and be with the Osmond family

Marie - I am so sorry for your loss. Adrenaline is getting you by right now and will for a while. Somehow we find the strength to do what we need to do at such a horrific time. I lost my 18 year old daughter in March of 2008 and know it is a road no one should ever have to travel. Your friends and family will help you get through. God Bless and know that time will make it easier.

Dear Marie,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your boy must have believed that this was the only way to end the pain he felt. I wish kids in this situation would understand that they won't always feel the way they do now. Know that you are not alone in this and that we feel for you.

God Bless you Marie, during this time of grief. Speaking as one who understands depression on a personal level, this has NOTHING to do with you or your divorce. The signs of suicide are difficult to read. Your son was too young to know how to ask for help. This almost happened to me when I was 38 years old. But age and maturity made it easier for me to reach out. If I had been 18 years old, I KNOW it would have ended differently.

Dear Marie and family,
Just wanna say I know what you are going through.I lost my 26 year old son to suicide in 2007 on Christmas Eve morning. His name was Michael as well.I never knew my son was depressed until two weeks prior to his death. He never talked about bad things in life. Then I lost my mother in June of 2007.Losing my mom was hard enough but, then my son.The feeling was totally different. If I can say anything to help you it would be prayers and faith and know he is with GOD in a better place.Your son may not be here, but he is here in spirit.I feel my son almost everyday and my mom.I lost the 2 closest people to my heart in a short 6 month time.Marie,it is hard and devasting right now but,it will get easier to bear within time....Just to let you know I grew up with you and your brothers listening to your music and watching your shows.May God bless you and your family....

Marie, I am so sorry about your son. My brother took his life at age 26 after a car accident did brain damage. It is hard when a love one dies of normal causes but you will never get over a death my someone's own hands. I will tell you alot of people will want to point a finger at your son and say he will not enter into heaven. I don't believe that because no one loved God anymore than my brother and I know that he is in heaven. I live for the day when he holds his hand out and helps me cross over into heaven. May God Bless You and help you get thru this lowest point in your life.
