Marie Osmond's Son Michael Blosil Commits Suicide

Tragic news for TV and music star Marie Osmond:
Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Osmond's 18-year-old son Michael Blosil committed suicide Friday evening in Los Angeles.
Blosil jumped to his death from his downtown apartment building around 9PM, according to
new details obtained by ET Online. The Los Angeles Fire Department was quickly dispatched after receiving a phone call and found a body believed to be Blosil's upon arrival.
An autopsy on the body may be conducted as early as tomorrow, says ET.
Blosil left a suicide note behind. In it, he cited a life-long battle with depression as the reason for his suicide.
Blosil was one of Osmond's eight children.
"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," Marie said.
In a telephone interview, Donny Osmond told ET, "Please pray for my sister and her family."
Marie and Donny are currently on stage in the Vegas production of 'Donny and Marie.' Tonight's show has been canceled, according to reports.
Osmond and her ex-husband, Brian Blosil, adopted Michael. Following their divorce after 20 years of marriage, Michael became depressed and in November 2007, entered rehab.
"Those kinds of things are really very hard for a teenager to deal with," Osmond told PEOPLE in March of 2009. "And if he ever wants to talk about it ... he will, but it has to be their choice. It's not my choice."
She went on to say that Michael was doing quite well, saying she "couldn't be more proud of him" and that "he's got a 3.9 GPA in high school. He's looking at scholarships to some wonderful colleges."
More developing ...

This is so very sad for the Osmond family and that poor young man.
I wish that they had called Focus Adolescent Services. There is nothing wrong to say and ask for help.
Rather, it is wrong not to seek help.
I pray for all of our children who are having difficult times.

What if the child is gay?
If Simon goes I have no interest in Idol. He is the show!

Dear Marie and family,
Of all the great entertainment families, yours is at the top. We live in Las Vegas and have seen your show and have met you and Donny. We watched you all grow up on the Andy Williams show all those years ago. In spite of your fame you and your family have always been very down to earth and that alone sets you apart. All of us have issues in our families and regardless of our fame or fortune, none of us are insulated from these kinds of things happening.I know that in your faith from the moment one passes into the next life they still very much live on... please celebrate your sons life and support him in his next life. While I am sure you will miss him, please know that he is warm and safe and loved by the lord for who he was and still is.Perhaps he will now find peace. Our thoughts are with you... again love be with you and your family during a difficult time. Ed & Christine Domanico

Dear Marie,
My heart goes out to you and your husband and family for your loss. I have terminal cancer and know the time we have here is just temporary. That even though he took his own life,God will still forgive him and he is at peace. I too have thought of it,but I know It's not my time yet. For I still have work to do for the lord in this world. May God always be with you.
God bless,

No parent ever wants to outlive their children,it's just not in correct order of things. untreated depression is bad, even with meds it sometimes is too strong to put down. My sincere good wishes are with osmond family.

My deepest condolences to Marie and her family. Could we out of respect during this difficult time be respectful of one another? I personally don't care of anyone's sexual preferences. If you have a political agenda find the correct forum to express your opinion.

IT SEEMS TO ME EVERY KID SHE ADOPTED HAS HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS AND MARIE HERSELF HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS WHEN SHE GAVE BIRTH TO MATTHREW AND LEFT HIM AND THE FAMILY, AND BRIAN HAD TO GO PICK HER UP, DUE TO A BREAKDOWN. TO ME THIS IS NOT SOMEONE THAT WANTS TO KEEP ADOPTING KIDS WHEN SHE HAD 3-4 OF HER OWN. ALL THE KIDS SHE ADOPTED WERE TROUBLED KIDS.
AS FOR THE REMARK ABOUT HIM BEING GAY, HER ADOPTED DAUGHTER IS GAY AND SHE AND THE OTHER ADOPTED DAUGHTER DID HORRIBLE THINGS ON THE INTERNET. SO TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE THESE KIDS ARE DOING THINGS TO GET EVEN WITH HER.
WITH ALL THAT SAID I TRULY AM SORRY THIS POOR BOY TOOK HIS LIFE.MARIE MAY THINK SHE IS MATERNAL BUT TO HER FAME AND MONEY ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT.

For the two daughter that were doing things on the Internet. The one is adopted Jessica. The other one she gave birth to. Before you make statements, make sure you know what you are talking about. Yes, Jessica is Gay, and yes, they were doing things on Myspace. But, they weren't both adopted. Do your research first.
Gigi: I think that you need to go back and double check your facts, before you go on-line and post things, of which you obviously know nothing about. Marie suffered from Post Partem
Depression, which LOTS of women do. Marie received treatment,
and has worked hard in talking about her depression, and how to
recognize the signs & symptoms, and to help women know that they
need help. Believe it or not, Marie & Donny have NEVER put fame
and fortune before their families. They were taught from the beginning of their lives, by their parents, the importance of
family and faith. I am not Mormon, and can not discuss it in depth, but even though some of the things that I do know...I may
not agree with, but there are things that I do......and one of the most important things....and that is just how much faith has
to be a part of your life....and just how important family is. I
love genealogy / family history.....and the Mormons have one of the largest archives of family information and data, for people to search for their family lines, etc. I worked for over 25+ years in healthcare, before a wreck ended that career for me. I
sank into a very deep depression over my life being turned totally upside down. I also worked with a lot of patients, as well as, family members who suffered from depression. People can
get depressed over things that happen in their lives....but it is
not the type of depression that lasts for years and years. Most
of the individuals with depression, suffer depression from a lack
of one of the neurotransmittors in the brain. Hence, the reason
for anti-depression medications. These medication replace the lack of norepinepherine, serotonin, dopamine, and other neurotransmitters. Different meds contain different neurotransmitters. Depression is a treatable condition in most
situations, but there are times, that other situations contribute
to the depth of the depression. So, please don't go and accuse
people of things that they have not done. Marie and the rest of the Osmond Family holds their family the closest to their hearts, with only their faith ahead of that.
Also, by the way....Marie's ex-husband cheated on her numerous times.....that is why she left him and divorced him.
My heart goes out to the Osmond Family, and especially to Marie
and yes, her ex-husband, as losing a child is one of the worst experiences that one can endure during one's life. I also want to
remember Michael's brothers and sisters, as they too, have lost
a sibling. My prayers and condolesces to the entire Osmond during this tragic period.
Schnarky, last time I checked it wasn't the Mormon church who got to decide whether or not prop 8 passed or not, it was the voters. I happened to know some mormon people and they are very sweet. And just because they don't support the gay lifestyle doesn't mean that they don't accept people who are gay. We live in America, and people on BOTH sides of prop 8, and every other controversy, should be able to voice their opinions without being ridiculed for it. People can then listen and make their own decisions.
