Sean Penn Wouldn't Mind if His Critics Died Painfully

The always-controversial Sean Penn draws criticism even when he's at his most charitable. Now, according to the Huffington Post, he has a few choice words for critics who have insinuated his volunteering in Haiti may be an effort to beef up his profile.

"I guess I've been so away from it all in our tent camp in Haiti that I haven't had an awful lot of time to pay attention to them," he told CBS News in an interview set to air on the upcoming 'Sunday Morning.' "Do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah. You know, but I'm not going to spend a lot of energy on it."

Penn has made two trips to Haiti since an earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince in January. TMZ reported last week that Penn was personally responsible for saving two individuals trapped in the rubble of a collapsed building.

The cancer comment is extreme, but it's no surprise from Penn. After winning the Best Actor Oscar last year for 'Milk,' the 49-year-old star opened his acceptance speech with a grin and the words, "You Commie, homo-loving sons of guns."

And now, we wait for the inevitable backlash.

Sean Penn is a phenominal actor, but he is extremely opinionated and unfortuately he speaks his mind all too openly. The press would be better off not igniting his ranting by ignoring what he does. Our media gets a hate for an actor and instead of not writing about everything they say or do the media should print what is necessary, not filler of garbage for actors whose careers they would like to destroy.
