Is There Too Much Sarah Jessica Parker and the 'City'?

Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't know how to apply makeup in real life, she was shocked and overcome with grief at the death of Alexander McQueen, she still wishes she had become a prima ballerina, her family was involved in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 way back in the day and DC politicos love her in red.
Oomph. That's a lot of information all at once.
See, we know all this because SJP has been ubiquitous for the past couple of weeks. She's one of the celebrity subjects on NBC's post-late-night-wars filler 'Who Do You Think You Are?' She has a new perfume out, SJP NYC, a strong floral aroma packaged in crazy colors and patterns reminiscent of the one and only Carrie Bradshaw. She visited the White House for the National Arts and Humanities Medal Ceremony, attended Fashion Week and penned late designer McQueen's obituary for Time magazine.
This begs the question, since we are nearly three months out from the May release of the much-anticipated sequel to 'Sex and the City,' is Parker jumping the publicity gun, or can fans just not get enough SJP?
It seems to be the latter, since everywhere the lady behind Carrie Bradshaw goes she gets cooed over, adored and welcomed with open arms.
"For a while, we could only catch a glimpse of Sarah Jessica Parker as she shuffled her son back and forth from school in Uggs and winter coats. But lately, the star has been stepping out in all of her made-up, dressed-up glory for various events, thrusting her back into the spotlight," explains AOL
StyleList editor Marissa Gold. "With the 'Sex and the City' sequel a little over two months away, many people might assume the star is stepping up her public appearance schedule in order to generate interest in the film. However, my take is that this is simply a busy time of year for the star, who is surprisingly down to earth and un-Hollywood in person."
After three decades in Hollywood, Sarah Jessica certainly knows how to play the game. By timing the release of SJP NYC to early movie chatter, she is riding the buzz bandwagon without entirely stealing the spotlight away from her fellow castmates (I think we all know how that would turn out -- MEOWCH!).
"Now is Sarah's moment. With all the talk about 'SATC 2,' Sarah is being smart and piggy backing all her projects," explains PopEater's "Naughty But Nice" columnist Rob Shuter (ever so nicely!). "After 'Sex,' I'm not sure we will be as interested in SJP. After all, it is Carrie Bradshaw that we all fell in love with, not SJP."
That is certainly true. Parker is so intimately connected to her onscreen alter-ego that any move she makes evokes thoughts of Carrie Bradshaw. So even though it may seem early when it comes to our short-term memory of media, any stepping out by Parker today will probably translate into good will at the box office for 'Sex and the City 2.'
"I think that anytime people see Sarah Jessica Bradshaw (whoops), they automatically think of 'Sex and the City,' so overexposure for her isn't really a problem when it comes to that particular project. I mean, if they were shopping around 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun 2,' then we may be needing to worry, but that isn't the case here," says
PopWrap's Ryan Brockington.
The votes are in. More of SJP is always a good thing. Please excuse us, we have to go buy some new perfume.

Wow, what a bunch of hateful morons here, and Ralph...you just led the mob into their little bitter tirades. Oh, and it's spelled profession, idiot.
Hey Ralph PUT A SOCK IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sex And The City is great!!! Sorry you are such a lonely person. Carrie Bradshaw is the greatest and I will watch SATC2. Those of you who have never watched it do not know what you are talking about.
They forgot to mention she is married to a murderer.
This show is really sick! For a decade these women slept with a different man each week and now we need to see them getting slammed on the big screen? I don't think so! I think you could get an STD just for watching these ho's. I am am waiting for the day that her houchee just drops out from over use.

Funny you watched enough of the show to know what they did....
Max the Midget ? How do you know that the women on the show slept with a different man every week ?
i never cared for her. she looks like her best friend or her dog died. her fox like head makes her eyes look mean. i stopped watching her before sex in the city ever aired

Parker gives new meaning to the word annoying. I mean REALLY...who would want to have sex with her in ANY city? The guy who PLAYED A MEAN PINBALL?? Nah. Even though he wouldn't have to look at her, listen to her or talk to her, I'm sure he had his standards too!
Personally, I'm getting sick and tired of her.

I have been sick of her for along time. Never saw 1 minute of Sex In The City and never wanted to. She is not pretty without the makeup team and even then she is NOT. She is not even cute.
I believe there is a time when we just see to much of a celebrity and it is so DONE. Her time has long past.
Her husband, he knows how to do the media without going overboard and flooding us with him. She should take lessons from him.
ALL OF YOU ARE JUST HATERS AND DON'T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT WHAT GOOD TV IS. THESE WOMAN WERE ONLY DOING WHAT MEN!!!! ALL OVER THE WORLD DO EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY FOR THEM IT WAS JUST TELEVISION!!!!! SO STOP HATING!!!!!!!! WHAT YOU CAN'T DO!!!!!!!

Debra, I'm a man and I don't behave that way. I don't know many men who do (or even could if they wanted to). In any case I don't see how failing to find Sarah Jessica Parker attractive or interesting makes someone a "hater." If you want to see one of those, maybe you should take a look in the mirror.
Oh wait, we don't agree with you so we are haters? Maybe your the" hater ". Are you a Democrate?
this is so interesting jo. love this story and all the different opinons

I thought "Sex and the City" was thinly disguised porn. My wife loved it, although she gets mad and leaves the room whenever I'm watching a drama that features a sex scene. I guess whether or not it's porn just depends on which side of the gender divide you're watching from.
The thing I really didn't like about SATC was that Carrie is supposed to be this mondo glamorous New York chick who snags this rich guy because she is so hot, and the poor thing doesn't have the looks to pull it off. Kind of like Streisand in "Prince of Tides" - supposed to be this beautiful, irrestible woman that Nick Nolte falls for in a big way. Good actress? Yes, but definitely not glamorous.

I don't know what anyone sees in her.
She has no looks, she has no talent!
Way overpaid!

Funny I say the same thing about Jennifer Aniston...yet she makes bomb after bomb at the box office. Go figure
All 4 women on Sex in the City were really gay men acting out their fantasies. Fabulous clothes, fabulous shoes, fabulous parties, fabulous boyfriends and lots of gayboy friends.

They do what women all over the world do every day? What is that being whores?
