I was very surpised that Farrah was not included. She was a brilliant actor. She wore her heart on sleeve and was a brave warrior in her fight to live. Very brave. Cancer sucks! And so does the academy from not including her? Farrah was an icon. Just look how many women wanted to have "Farrah hair" in the late 70's. How many times has that happened? She should have been mentioned.

I thought Farrah was a very good actress and a beautiful woman. She should not have been overlooked . Perhaps she will be given a special honor later. I remember her when she starred in The Burning Bed. She was a tv star and a movie star and a one of a kind pin-up girl.
Also I liked the Oscars better when the songs that were nominated were sung by an individual. Not from scenes in the movie. The Oscar show is waaay too long.

michael jackson has done much more for children around the world than farrah fawcett, who raised a gr8 son (sigh), and most if not all of these asinine, cynical diggleberries who believe in that child molestation smear against him. other than a silly looking feathered hair cut (the pet rock was popular back then too), why was she famous?

For some reason I have to answer you and you are such an ass. Have you ever lost someone to cancer? Probably not. That was my message. It is horrific to lose someone from cancer. And she faced that with diginity. It was not all about the hair. Her diginity. I never even mentioned MJ. He is a whole other story.

Even in death, Farrah is a lighting-rod for publicity! By NOT mentioning her in the Oscar segment has gotten her MORE press than if they had done some generic 20 second clip. But more to the point, YES, she very much deserved to be included. It amazes me how people dont know that she was a critically acclaimed film actress, who appeared in an Oscar-nominated film called the APOSTLE.Talent AND beauty!

beauty is only skin deep, and acting is easy, everybody does it. because she had 'beauty' she was spotted meryl streep points for being a good actress. peggy lipton act (she won a golden globe) sing, write songs, and play piano; raised two briliant daughters who aren't drug addicted criminals, and had much better 70s hair.. she's farrah age..surviving, and still looks FAR better than her at 63. STILL i wouldn't expect her to be saluted at the oscars either...

I was stun, when they didnt show Farrah, I couldnt believe it. I will never understand why Micheal Jackson was included. Who every was ever over that project should never be allowed to do anything else for the Oscar Awards, leaving Farrah out was very disrespectful and an insult to show Micheal Jackson over her, how sad,sad. Farrah was a very good actress, no doubt and should be remembered as that!

Does anyone realize that they also forgot Ricardo Montalban (Wrath of Khan, among other movies)? Overlooking Farrah Fawcett was totally lame on the Academy's part, esp because she died only hours before Michael Jackson. Again, Michael overshadows Farrah's death. Who decides these things at the Academy anyway? Obviously, they do not watch TV...which is why they struggle year after year trying to increase the ratings. They are so out of touch with the public.

A real disgrace, they mention a person who died of drug overdoses, a person who hung himself by accident for sexual pleasures, but not a woman who battled cancer? I don't get it!!
I would have gotten up if I were Ryan right after that song was over and asked, "What happened to Farrah"

I am under the suspicion that the Academy left Farrah out intentionally, but I can't imagine why. Makes me think far less of the Academy. Farrah died on the same day as Michael Jackson so she was overshadowed by his death. I have so much respect for her after seeing the telecast and video of the pain and suffering she went through when she was battling the cancer. What a trooper she was! She fought till the bitter end. She deserved the respect of the Academy and didn't get it. I am sorry for her family and close friends. Unfortunately, people die and life moves on. It always saddens me to see how quickly a life is forgotten after death. Farrah has moved on, she is still alive in spirit, but I feel for her loved ones. The Academy should be ashamed of themselves.

Ben was NOT written by Michael Jackson! It was written by Walter Scharf and Don Black. The SONG was nominated, NOT the singer. "This Is It"? Where was it nominated? And the Library of Congress Film Registry IS NOT THE ACADEMY OF MOTION PICTURES. Farrah Fawcett was a MEMBER of the Academy for FORTY YEARS!!! She deserved more respect than that. Yes, MJ was in "The Wiz" and it received a nomination, BUT HE DID NOT. Farrah received a GOLDEN GLOBE for her portrayal of a rape victim who gets revenge on her rapist in "Extremeties". Michael Jackson portrayed a talking bag of straw in "The Wiz"...Gee there's a toss-up. Remember, the second you point a finger, be prepared to have three pointed back at you.

Fawcett should've been mentioned. However King would NEVER be omitted. HE IS GREAT! Yet if Academy is a film award program, did Ms Fawcett do any films? Thriller is a short film, Ben is a film, so is This Is It. Wiz too. Michael Jackson was no molester, and people know it. Not the only entertainer to have cosmetic surgery or drug addiction either. Never hear anyone else slandered. Greatest philanthropist in show biz. Still not enough. Gave and gave. Should have kept every dime. Racism is killing society more than anything. I'm so grateful God allowed Satan to talk Evan Chandler into putting a gun to his head. Now that is what I call Karma.
