As Molly Malaney prepared to walk down the aisle with ABC's 'Bachelor' Jason Mesnick, her make-up artist Mally Roncal admits the bride wasn't nervous -- despite the torrential downpour that could have ruined the wedding. "She was actually very calm. There was a lot going on around her, and she kept it together very gracefully," Roncal tells PopEater.
"Molly's makeup was bulletproof," Roncal admits. "When we finished with Molly, she kept saying over and over, 'I love it, I love it, I love it!'"
After the jump, Roncal tells us about the couple's wedding day and how women can get the the bride's flawless look.
Tell us how you got the opportunity to do the makeup for Molly Malaney's wedding?
'The Bachelor' production team contacted me, and I was thrilled to take on the opportunity.
Did you give her any marriage advice?
Not necessarily marriage advice, but I did give Molly lots of beauty advice. We talked about how to keep her makeup looking fresh, but I didn't really need to tell her that -- she was very well groomed. She loves wearing makeup, and I gave her lots of tips to really play up her big gorgeous eyes.
Yeah, Molly and her bridesmaids' makeup looked flawless. Since the wedding ceremony was outdoors and the weather report was threatening rain, I knew we had to make sure their makeup was bulletproof. I used all waterproof products on the eyes, made sure to prep the face with primer and layered Molly's makeup in a way that gave it staying power without looking cakey.
I applied my Ultimate Performance Professional Foundation where she needed it and set it with the Visible Skin Foundation. Most times setting powder can make the complexion look grey in photos, so using a powder foundation like Visible Skin is a great way to give the complexion a warm finish instead. Many of the bridesmaids never got their makeup professionally done before so the energy and excitement was incredible. When we finished with Molly, she kept saying over and over, "I love it, I love it, I love it!"
Was Molly nervous before the wedding?
She was actually very calm. There was a lot going on around her, and she kept it together very gracefully.
What were some of the day's highlights that you remember most?
The weather played a big part in this wedding. I almost didn't make it there because of the snow storm that hit New York last week, and then we had the tsunami warning on the coast of California. As Jason and Molly were exchanging their vows, the skies opened up, and it was a torrential downpour. I knew Molly and her bridemaids had nothing to worry about though -- their makeup was set.
To show my appreciation for letting me be a part of her special day, I gave Molly and her bridesmaids each their own big basket of Mally Beauty products. Being with any bride on her wedding day is always a memorable situation, so it was an incredible feeling to be there.
I can't get over how good all the women looked. What advice can you give to women about achieving this flawless look every day? It's all about keeping your makeup bulletproof so that you can look professional and polished all day, every day. That said, always start with a great primer and use quality products that won't budge when you wear them.
