Sean Hayes Comes Out in The Advocate

After years of speculation about his personal life, 'Will and Grace' actor Sean Hayes has finally acknowledged, albeit circuitously, that he's gay in an interview with The Advocate.

Hayes, who became a household name in the late 90s for his role as Jack McFarland on the NBC comedy, has been notoriously mum about his sexual orientation until now.

In the interview, which appears in April's issue of The Advocate, the actor says, "I never have had a problem saying who I am... I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never."

Hayes is a member of an ever-growing list of celebrities who have come out in the media after hitting the big-time.

*NSYNC heartthrob Lance Bass famously appeared on the cover of PEOPLE magazine alongside the words "I'm Gay" in July of 2006 after rumors of an alleged relationship with 'Amazing Race' winner Reichen Lemkuhl hit the blogosphere.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who first became famous for his eponymous role on 'Doogie Howser, M.D. and more recently for his role as Barney Stinson on 'How I Met Your Mother,' opened up to the same magazine just months later in November 2006. In his interview, Harris told PEOPLE, "I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest."

As for why Hayes took so long in making his sexual orientation public, he says, "Nobody owes anything to anybody. You are your authentic self to whom and when you choose to be, and if you don't know somebody, then why would you explain to them how you live your life?"

He adds, "I feel like I've contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I'm open to it. You're welcome."

Sandy, the same scriptures you reference say you are not to eat pork, shellfish, or any fish without scales. It also says you can sell your daughter into slavery, not to wear clothes of mixed fabrics,to stone your children for lying, and that nobody is to even sit on a piece of furniture you touch during your monthly period. So which ones do you want to pick and choose?

Sandy, I dont know if there is a God or not. I feel there probably is but still have doubts. Why war, hatred, proverty, disease?? If these are tests, then we are barely passing. Liberals realize war is wrong, but conversatives love the violence and the money to be made from it. Liberals realize that hatred is wrong (hence Obama) but conservatives realize it is a means to divide the population so that they can remain in control and hence, back to money. Liberals have tried to stop poverty for centuries but conversatives realize that in order to be rich, you have to have some poor. Liberals try to cure disease but conservatives realize the money is not in the cure but the drugs to prolonge the disease without it being fatal. I can pretty much guess what side of the fence you are on and I say this, God is love, no hate, not blindness, not scorn and no where does he say he will sit back and allow his people to judge. Sin is an error in human behavior, a transgression that can and will be forgiven. A murderer, a rapist or a child molester will be forgiven in time (even by the courts once his sentence is served). If you think being gay is such a sin, do you think its worst than the ones I mentioned. If not, then dont you think God can embrace the person, just as he would embrace you? One final thing, he who is without sin cast the first stone and your hatred shows that you are not without sin.

That's according to your religion. Every religion says their religion is the right way, and in my religion, it is not wrong to be homosexual or whatever God made you to be... and we don't have eternal damnation and all that fire and brimstone stuff. No matter what you thumpers think, being gay is NOT a choice.

I am a Christian and I have to wonder where some people get their information from. I don't think God ever said anything about homosexuality but it was mortal man writing what he thought. The God I know loves us all, gay, straight or bi and if you want to be technical here then maybe you should look at masturbation as a sin because to spill your seed in anything other then trying to make a human life can be looked at as a sin too. Just ask the Catholic church but maybe you shouldn't ask them as they have had their own sexual problems over the years. I think if we all left the judgement to God we would all be better off. We are all sinners and fall short of the Glory of God but that is also why God sent His only son to die on the Cross. Judgement is mine says the Lord!!! So judge not least thee be judged.

Even if homosexuality is a sin... I thought one of the main points in the bible is that everyone is a sinner, and that Jesus died for everyone's sins, so if someone accepts Jesus, they have they some option to eternal life as anyone else. So if that's true then a gay man has just as much a chance at heaven as anyone else. Isn't it also in the bible to love thy neighbor... whether he is gay or not, so if you didn't love the gay guy next door to you, you'd be in contridiction of the bible yourself... and if Jesus and God are selective about sinners, then the bible isn't true, which means who gives a damn if homosexuality is a sin, because the bible would be in contridiction with itself and therefor not true anyway.

Sandy, have you ever read Corinthians 14: 33-35 or Timothy 2: 9-15. What they basically say is woman should be submissive to men, woman should be silent, woman should never wear their hair in braids or wear jewlery, and woman should not adorn themselves with gold.
Additionally Leviticus 19:27 says Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the esdges of your head.
Leviticus 11:7 says '..and the swine though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud is unclean to you"
Leviticus 11:12 'Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales that shall be an abomination to you. You shall not eat their flesh"

So, the list goes on. Do you eat shellfish, pork, wear jewlery, cut your hair, open your mouth? Are you submissive to your "man"?

Probably NOT. Becasue people like YOU use this man written novel only to what suits you! ALL of you bible thumpers are HIPPOCRATES!

The scriptures also say no to eating shell fish, pork, no to women cutting their hair or even opening their mouth and speaking in a church. These things are all called an abomination, just as homosexuality is. Do you say no to all of these things too? Did you have bacon for breakfast? Do you eat shrip? Or do you just pay attention othe gay part, like all other Christians I've met. You can't pick and choose what you follow in the Bible. You have to follow it all or you too may be damned. Besides, if you are not gay, what's it to you? Perhaps you should get off line, stop judging people you don't even know, and go do some volenteer church work!
