Sean Hayes Comes Out in The Advocate

After years of speculation about his personal life, 'Will and Grace' actor Sean Hayes has finally acknowledged, albeit circuitously, that he's gay in an interview with
The Advocate.
Hayes, who became a household name in the late 90s for his role as Jack McFarland on the NBC comedy, has been notoriously mum about his sexual orientation until now.
In the interview, which appears in April's issue of The Advocate
, the actor says, "I never have had a problem saying who I am... I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never."
Hayes is a member of an ever-growing list of celebrities who have come out in the media after hitting the big-time.
*NSYNC heartthrob Lance Bass famously appeared on the cover of
PEOPLE magazine alongside the words "I'm Gay" in July of 2006 after rumors of an alleged relationship with 'Amazing Race' winner Reichen Lemkuhl hit the blogosphere.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who first became famous for his eponymous role on 'Doogie Howser, M.D. and more recently for his role as Barney Stinson on 'How I Met Your Mother,' opened up to the same magazine just months later in November 2006. In his interview, Harris told
PEOPLE, "I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest."
As for why Hayes took so long in making his sexual orientation public, he says, "Nobody owes anything to anybody. You are your authentic self to whom and when you choose to be, and if you don't know somebody, then why would you explain to them how you live your life?"
He adds, "I feel like I've contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I'm open to it. You're welcome."

I believe in God, but I dislike the term Bible Thumper. You believe your way, and I can believe my way. I would never judge another human being on how they choose to lead their life, it is their decision. So please, if you would be so kind, do not lump all Christians together. And, yes, men did write the bible, that is a fact, but if you read it, and really study it, you might just believe differently. That is all I am sayin, have a great day all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melissa, when I used the term "Bible Thumper", I was referring to Sandy and her condemnation of Sean Hayes lifestyle and her inferring that Sean Hayes would be going to hell. I only use that term for the ultra ultra religious people who have only one goal: to condemn anyone and everything they can because it doesn't match their own lifestyle or their own beliefs. I would in no way put down anyone who is religious who uses the Bible in a positive way. I only abhor the judgmental people who use it as a suppressive tool, to put down others and say that they are going to go to hell because they have different beliefs or lifestyles. That is wrong.
I AM SHOCKED.

AMEN! Vegasdude!!! The Christians only preach when it's convenient to them. Most are "do as I say not as I do" type people. They think they are above it all. I've seen it more often then I care to admit. What a turn off. If Sean Hayes is Gay, big deal. If it's wrong, God will take care of it. Until then Christians need to get over it and mind their own business.
I'm sad that he is gay, because I have always had a crush on him, lol.
Sandy, I believe it is a bigger sin to do God's job (judge people) than to be gay. You are obviously a small minded ignorant soul. To quote Salt N Pepa. "There's only one true judge and that's God so chill and let my father do his job"

Of course he is gay, but we all knew that. This is a non story.
The only real story is you religious freaks who choose to damn people for being what God made them. Oh yeah, God doesn't exist. Religion is meant to keep people from rising up against the ruling class.

I still watch the "Will and Grace" reruns, and I think it was wrongly named. It should have been called "Jack and Karen" instead. Sean Hayes stole the show! He could deliver lines like no other and to this day, can bring me to tears with laughter and his side splitting humor. When he acted the cheerleader on the show, I couldn't even catch my breath, he was SO hilarious! I don't care what his sexual preference is; I love this guy for the great entertainer that he is! Way to go, Sean!

Sean Hayes is a great actor but I'm not sure how portraying a self centered, sarcastic, promiscuous mooch has contributed "monumentally" to the gay movement in America.

He is a good actor. I have no problem with what he does in his personal life.

Hey Sandy! How's it feel to be despised for who you are, even though people don't actually know you?

Yeah. Who is judging whom? Where is all the liberal "love"? Seems like there's a lot of hate being expressed here for anyone who disagrees that homosexuality is a good or healthy thing.

Okay, enough. Sandy made a mistake and misquoted. Why is it that everyone is so quick to slam any one for being a christian and their beliefs? It is true God did send his son and Jesus did go to the cross for all of us. And we all do fall short of the Glory of God. However, a sin is a sin. Why do you think God destroyed Sodom and Gomorah? Because there were very sinful men and women living there. It is easy to say "Well I was born this way"...however, God doesn't make mistakes. It is a choice which God has given to all of us. None of us know what will happen when we meet our maker. But as far as I am concerned I want him to say "Well done my good and faithful child". What do you want God to say to you.

Your religion and religious beliefs are rules for you to live your life by. Your religious beliefs are not to be foisted on others who belief differently. Keep your religion to yourself!
You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Sandy is absolutely right. Don't tell Sandy to read her Bible. Apparently she has. Maybe ALL OF YOU should go read it. It says that homosexuality is a SIN! Read Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:24-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and then you tell me how homosexuality is acceptable!

What happened to ALL THE OTHER SINS in Leviticus and Romans and Corinthians? These are writings [supposedly] by Moses and Paul respectively. Also, if you follow the teachings of Jesus, then where does Jesus address the issue of homosexuality?
