Lindsay Lohan Reportedly Suing E-Trade for Ad

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly suing the financial company E-Trade, insisting that the company's new commercial about a boyfriend-stealing, "milkaholic" baby -- who happens to be named Lindsay -- was modeled after her. Lohan reportedly wants $100 million, The NY Post reports. Lohan's lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, told the newspaper that the actress has the same single-name recognition as Oprah or Madonna. "Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit," Ovadia said.

The actress filed a lawsuit yesterday in Nassau County Supreme Court over the commercial, which debuted during the Super Bowl this year. PopEater reached out to E-Trade,

Reached for comment, E-Trade tells PopEater they are refraining from commenting until they can review Lohan's complaint.

In the ad, a baby boy apologizes to his girlfriend via video chat for not calling her the night before. The suspicious girlfriend asks, "And that milkaholic Lindsay wasn't over?"

"Lindsay?" the boy replies, just before a baby girl sticks her head into the frame and slurs, "Milk-a-what?" Watch:

"They used the name Lindsay," Ovadia said. "They're using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn't they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody's talking about it and saying it's Lindsay Lohan."

According to the NY Post, Ovadia said, "E-Trade has violated Lohan's rights under New York state civil-rights law and used her 'name and characterization' in business without paying her or getting her approval."

Ovadia wants to force the spot off the air, claiming Lohan is owed $50 million in exemplary damages and another $50 million in compensatory damages.

Ms. Lohan needs to get over herself. I thought the ad was hysterical and she never came to mind when the name was mentioned.

Is she out of her mind? Or has her ability to make money legitimately fallen so low that she has to make up lawsuits to pay her hoarding bills? Lohan is not the only "a-holic" named Lindsay in the world and just the fact that she sees something of herself in the "boyfriend-stealing milkaholic" Lindsay in the E-Trade ad makes me think she knows she's got problems - AND that she's an egomaniac. Just like when Angelina Jolie sued a perfume maker who named a scent 'Shiloh' - as if Jolie's daughter is the only Shiloh in the world. Please.

Only one problem with Ms. Lohan and her lawyer's position...whereas I would recognize Oprah and Madonna across a crowded stadium, I wouldn't know Lindsay Lohan if she walked up to and slapped me.

And I love how "Everybody's talking about it and saying it's Lindsay Lohan." Um, this ad has been around for a few months now and the only person I've heard say it was her was... her.

To have one name recognition as a star you need to have been a "Star"! Lohan, never was and never will be a star! Cher / Madonna / Oprah all have years of fame behind their single name recognition. Your 5 minutes of fame, I'm sure will not qualify you!

Speaking as a lawyer, I have one immediate thought. That attorney representing her should lose her license to practice for filing such a patently ridiculous lawsuit. The courts are not a place to conduct PR promotion.
