Corey Feldman Grieving 'Tragic Death' of Corey Haim

Corey Haim's longtime friend and frequent co-star Corey Feldman is grieving the "tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul," he said in a statement released Wednesday. Following Haim's
untimely death at age 38, Feldman expressed grief at the loss of his "best friend."
"I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face," Feldman said.

The press release continues:
"I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans and, of course, my son, who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived."

"The Two Coreys"
Haim's troubled relationship with fellow '80s teen star Feldman was documented in the A&E reality show 'The Two Coreys.' During the show, Haim's substance abuse was often a recurring problem between the two actors. After taping the show in 2008, Feldman cut ties with Haim over his personal problems.

"I don't feel that he's a safe person to have around my wife and child at the moment, for a multitude of reasons," Feldman told
PEOPLE at the time.
On February 18, however,
TMZ cameramen caught Feldman and Haim leaving a restaurant in West Hollywood together, leading many to believe Haim was on the road to recovery. In the video, the two refer to each other as "best friends."
Haim, the former teen idol who rose to fame in 1980s classics 'The Lost Boys,' 'Lucas' and 'License to Drive,' died Wednesday morning of an apparent accidental drug overdose in Burbank, Calif., the LAPD has confirmed. He was 38.
Local news station KTLA is reporting that Haim was found in an Oakwood apartment believed to belong to his mother, who was at home at the time and called emergency responders. TMZ is reporting that four prescription drug bottles were found nearby, and that he had been gripped by flu-like symptoms in recent days.
Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie told reporters that Haim died at 2:15 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.

The two Corey's were always great together, I thought of Cory Feldman when I heard the news. To me they were always brothers. I'm so angry at loosing Cory, Britney, Andrew and Marie Osmonds son. This has to stop, I don't know how, but we must start to figure out a way. Even Heath. All gone to fast and young. Live fast die hard, James Dean a Rebal. Maybe it is too much too soon for the younger set to handle. Maybe we have to look into it, because sad to say, not the first won't be the last.

The 80's were fun time and fun movies and clothes. John Huges, in the 80's. I will miss Cory and can't believe he couldn't heal, but we all have something to bare and fix. Dream on in heaven my brother, I hope you find peace. I'll watch all your movies again, and again.

Feldman looked pretty much the same look when he was a teen, but Haim ... when he was in teens, he was such a good looking boy, but all of that have changed when he grew up with substance abuse. I have dealt with some college freshmen that immediately joined a group of potheads at the beginning of the year. I remember them looking healthy pink and then in two months later before their withdrawal from school, they looked pale and unhealthy. I don't know why the f some people want to legalize the use of marijuana. For medical reasons? my azz!

It is so sad that hollywood cannot be held accountable for the deaths of all these youngsters taken from their loved ones way to soon. To much to fast. I pray that someday these kids that raise to fame so quickley will be counciled as they make the leap into fame. God be with this young mans family as they greive their tragic loss

so sad. I guess that is what drug does to you. We have loss many talented people to an addictive chemical such as drugs. I cannot believe how someone who wanted to change his life around could die like this. I guess it is true "you live by the sword, you die by the sword" Well in this case, you live by the drugs you die by the drugs. LOok at so many actors and actress and other celebrities that have died from this problem. Why to people always have to refer back to drugs. Dont people get it DRUGS CAN KILL YOU!!!!.
So sad that his life had to end so sudden. RIP Cory Haim, you'll be truely missed.
