His Picture Was In Their Locker: Three of Our Readers Remember Corey Haim
Here at PopEater, we're still reeling over the death of Corey Haim and everyone from tweeting celebrities to our own editor Brooke Tarnoff are thinking back on the actor they fell in love with in the '80s. We turned it over to our readers to join our Pop Chorus and recall the days when they lived in bedrooms covered with Tiger Beat covers. Here are three stories that touched us most.
"We Would Skydive Into My Grandmother's Backyard and Finally Be Married"
When I was a young girl I would buy every Teen Beat and Tiger I could get my hands on to post the pictures of Corey all over my wall. I would run to Elizabeth's house -- my best friend at the time -- and we would look through the magazines all day boasting how wonderful life would be like if we could snag someone as cute as him.

I would watch 'The Lost Boys' over and over again, just to see that cute baby face of his. If there was a movie with Corey in it, you could bet my mother would eventually give in from all the begging I would employ to have her take me. I suppose you could say he was the Robert Pattinson of my generation, a handsome vampire with sparkling eyes and an amazing smile. To me, Corey Haim could do no wrong.
He was my dream boy. Like many other little girls, I would day dream of one day meeting him, which would be followed by us immediately falling in love and living happily ever. I had it all planned out: We would skydive into my grandmothers backyard and finally be married, I would be Mrs. Jennifer Haim. And all the time I spent doodling that name would have finally paid off.
We would move to Hollywood, live in an amazing house, have 2.5 kids and an amazing life.
But alas, like most little girl crushes, I eventually grew out of my hopes to one day land Haim as my own. Now, I will truly never get that chance. --

"While Larger Than Life ... He Seemed Very Real"
It is heartbreaking to hear that yet another teen idol from the '80s is gone. When Corey Haim was in the prime of his career, I was in the prime of my pre-teen years in a suburb of Chicago and engrossed in teen magazines such as Tiger Beat and Bop (just to name a couple). After only a couple of hours, massive amounts of photos of Haim would be torn out and posted on my bedroom walls and on the inside of my locker. Smaller photos would be cut out and pasted into my assignment notebook.
I spent endless hours watching movies such as 'Lucas,' 'Lost Boys,' 'Licensed to Drive' and 'Dream a Little Dream' -- those were my favorites. When I couldn't watch the movies, I'd turn to the soundtracks. I believe I actually wore out the 'Dream' soundtrack tape (yes, tape!) from listening to it over and over.
Corey had the most adorable, crooked smile and his charm just seemed to ooze from the silver screen. He had a special way about him. While he was adorable and talented, he also seemed to have the same attainable charm that the boy you had a crush on in school did. While he was larger than life, he seemed very real at the same time. I think that is what set him apart from some of the other teen idols of that iconic time known as the '80s. --

"He Began With Such a Bright Future"
I have just heard the news that Corey Haim has died. It is always hard to lose an actor or actress that you essentially grew up watching. Corey was just a few years older than myself and was my biggest teenage crush. The first movie I saw Corey in was 'License To Drive' with Corey Feldman. They almost seemed more like brothers than co-stars. When Corey began acting, he was so young, so beautiful and very talented with so much energy and potential. My favorite Corey Haim movie was 'The Lost Boys.' As a teenager, I watched this movie over and over until I could quote every line.
He was one of the younger actors in this film, but easily the best; he stole the show -- he was just so boyishly handsome with that full hair, those eyes and that devilish smile that got me every time. I bought an obscene number of Teen and Seventeen magazines for the pictures of Corey. You could find these pictures on the inside of my locker, my school binder and, of course, my room. As Corey began to get older, he seemed to disappear from film all together. I think it may have been difficult for him to transition from teenage heartthrob into more serious adult roles. When he did come back, it was on the set of 'The Two Coreys,'
that A&E documentary show. I watched a few episodes, but could not stomach much more than that. I just could not watch him, that wasn't the Corey I had grown up with. He had bouts of anger, childishness and he looked as though he had aged way beyond his years. He seemed unable to move beyond his past. Perhaps many viewers felt the same way, as the show did not last long. Corey began with such a bright future, so happy and beautiful, and that is how I want to remember him now. --

Cory's film making career was discarded in the early 90's like trash left at the curb waiting for garbage day. While the garbage bag lay on top of a stip of dried crabgrass slightly over hanging the dirty curb one can't help but notice the pieces life inside that mattered to no one. Addiction distroys many lives where no one cares. People who were suppose to care gave up on Corey and Corey in turn gave up on life. Corey was an addict and was shunned by the same Hollywood from where his addiction came.

What's all the hub-bub? People die, some foolishly like this guy so moral of the story......don't be a dumbass by doing drugs to begin with. Only weak people fall prey to drugs.
My favorite Cory Haim movie besides Lost Boys was Silver Bullet. Cory like Brittney Murphy is one of those actors you can't ever forget.

If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all... Ignorance is a bad thing. His family is hurting and people like you dont make it any better
So people are going to get on here and be insensitive and put him down for his drug issues. Yes that was his problem for continuing his use. But why doesn't anyone question why a doctor prescribes not 1 but 4 prescriptions to a known addict? Yet if trying to buy groceries somewhere like Costco or Sam's Club, you are turned away. Reports say he had been feeling sick with flu like symptoms...give him a Z pack!!! I fully realize he was a grown adult but at the same time, other adults need to take responsibility and stop contributing to the use of drugs, prescription or not!!!

Sorry I meant to say that you are turned away for trying to buy groceries at these places without a silly little membership card. People go to this extreme to regulate who can purchase groceries and where they can be purchased...why doesn't someone regulate what can be prescribed to addicts and when???

may you find the peace in death that you sought in life.......lost boy goes home

I don't think it is nice to say bad things about Corey. He just like many other people had a real life problem that could have been cured from family and friends. My prayers go out to his family and friends. He will always be a shooting star across my sky. I have been a big fan of the corey's and will always admire them no matter how they were. For the person who said just another druggie that is so wrong and for that person who blogged about another person dying that is selfish. I never would wish hate on people but put yourself in this persons shoes or even a close family member. It is wrong. I wish that corey would have had better support. But being on meds or getiing ahold of meds is easier than anything. Another star has been born in the sky. RIP COREY.
