Road Report: Neither Sleet Nor Snow Can Keep Vedera Down
By Vedera Posted Mar 10th 2010 02:30PM
Last fall, Vedera made an appearance on MTV's 'The Hills' that launched them into buzz band territory. The Kansas City natives performed their debut single, 'Satisfy,' and were filmed spending time with the cast backstage.
Now, the pop-rock four-piece is back in the limelight, touring with Jack's Mannequin and Fun in support of their current album, 'Stages.' In their latest Road Report, Vedera hit a snowy patch on their cross-country trip, but makes the best of an icy situation.
Two nights at the Chicago House of Blues. I'll say it again, I love Chicago! The most beautiful Midwestern city. (Sorry, Kansas City, you come in close second.) After our two shows here I was exhausted. We are always busy when visiting this town because our management resides here (they make it a point to keep us moving). These days were filled with industry visits and interviews. One particular was with something called Akoo, that will be placed in major shopping malls. So, fellow shoppers, look out for Vedera!!
The next day we traveled to Indianapolis, while the temperatures dropped and snow started to fall. Knowing that we had a full day of radio visits the next day, we decided to drive to Louisville after the show where we met up with our friend Erin who started us on our journey at 9 a.m.

We're from KC, and are used to icy winters, but the next day we needed to make it from Lousiville, Kentucky to Buffalo, New York stopping by four radio stations along the way. We made it to our last radio visit in Columbus, Ohio when it was time to decide if we could brave the elements and cross the border into Toronto, Canada for our show the next day.
Now, we in Vedera are true road warriors. We will travel just about as far as one will to play for our fans, but we also have a few hesitations. In November of 2008, we got in a super dangerous accident on icy conditions so anytime we start to trek out in the snow, we're quick to think again. When the roads allowed us to move no more than twenty miles an hour, we decided to stay in Akron, Ohio for the night and skip our Canada date. Sorry, Toronto. Love you, love your city, but we'll have to meet up next time. ;)
Our stop that night at a Holiday Inn wasn't as boring a usual. We stayed right across the street from a massive arcade with that's right, black light mini-golf and laser tag. The built up hours in the van, left us wanting to stretch our legs and bust out our inner child as we headed over to the "Fun Zone." Along with our mini golf adventures we also headed to the only place open next door to buy a do-it-yourself birthday cake for our dear Jason (six donuts stacked on top of one another), who was turning 28 at the stroke of midnight.
The next day we packed up our suitcases, thankful that the forecast for snow had died down, and headed to our show in Selinsgove, Pennsylvania. This show was fun. The crowd wasn't very full, and it seemed they were a bit more reserved than the average crowd on this tour, but below the stage, the green room we shared with the band Fun was just starting to heat up. This particular green room was so large we decided to start a four square tournament in the middle of it all. As you can see, when touring in the winter, we all get a little antsy, especially after being out for months at a time, and sometimes, nothing is better than some old school competition. This game that started out right after Fun's set lasted a good two-and-a-half hours, though I have to say, as the boys multiplied, so did the testosterone. I found myself documenting the game at a safe distance with my camera, while checking Facebook. Such is life. ;)
