Since the release of her debut album, 'Love Travels,'
Angel Taylor has toured with the likes of
Adele,
Gavin DeGraw and
Mat Kearney, and her songs have been featured on several TV shows, including 'One Tree Hill' and '90210.' The 21-year-old Los Angeles native was also named one of VH1's You Oughtta Know: Artists On The Rise in 2010.
As a part of our exclusive video series, Taylor will perform covers of some of her favorite songs and talk about what makes them so special. In her second video, Taylor covers 'Breakeven,' by Irish pop rockers
The Script, and explains that the song's melody intrigued her upon first listen.
I chose 'Breakeven' because it had such a sweet melody when I heard it. I was captured by the band when I was able to open for them in San Francisco, and completely fell in love with those guys. They're the sweetest and most fun group of musicians! The song was starting to get big, and I hadn't heard it yet, so my first experience was hearing them play it live, and there could've been a party in the room or a crazy mosh pit, and I wouldn't have known. I was so fixed on the group playing the song, the melody of the song and of course the lyrics of it (being that it is a heart felt song), and [it was] something I was easily able to relate to. I also love that it was coming from a male's perspective. The things that I sing about, most people can relate to...and when he sang it, it was coming from a place that not only people could relate to, but thoughts from a male's mind, which i thought was really intriguing. So I figure, why not step out and give it shot and hope that people can be effected by it, the same way I was?

I loved this song, but now I love it even more after hearing her sing it! Great job, Angel!
