Renee Zellweger Rewards Good Samaritan With Coffee
By PopEater Staff Posted Mar 11th 2010 06:52AM
Actress Renee Zellweger was saved from a possible parking ticket when a stranger slipped some coins into her expiring meter outside Starbucks. Her reply? Zellweger gave him a $100 Starbucks gift card -- with a sweet message. "Wow," the note read. "Thank you so much for the kindness. Warmly, with gratitude, Renee!"

With Zellweger in the middle of ordering, the gentleman dashed outside the store and put a few coins in the meter, saving her from being fined by a traffic warden, UK's Daily Mail reports.
The actress is currently between films, having recently completing the comedy 'My Own Love Song.'
She has also signed on to reprise her role as Bridget Jones in another film, which is scheduled for release next year.

What a very nice thing to do on both their parts. Now if more people were like that this world would be SO much nicer.

Renee Zellweger has a reputation for being kind to strangers. This is not the first time she's done something for a stranger. She is a down-to-earth, classy lady. It's something the National Enquirer has noticed and they have had no scandalulous articles about her. I believe she's from Texas.

I work downtown in a city that has aggressive parking enforcement. When I am on break or walking to lunch, I put a quarter in every meter I see that has expired. I don't know the people and they don't know me. I see it as "paying it forward" and good karma. I'd hope some one would do me the same kindness one day. BTW, I am handicapped, and don't make alot of money. Think about doing something nice for someone, and stop speculating on ultitive motives.

She should have just thanked him, or paid for his coffee. I feel she over did it. I am surprised it worked anyway. An expired meter is an expired meter. The parking limit is the limit an auto can stay there, whether you put more money in or not. If it is a 2 hour parking space, then adding more money doesn't make it legal to stay longer. Check the law. Not that I have a problem adding money if I am staying longer, but just so you know... I do think she over did it big time. Sort an insult, saying she is rich enough to do that.

First of all, the way some of these stars look when they are out in public, it may just be possible he did not know who she was.
Secondly, he may be the type of person that would have done this for anyone. Would any of you have done the same? From some of the negative responses, I think not.

isn't it illegal to put coins in someone else meter?

There are others like this man. I for one have done the same for people I have never met. I figure If I put a coin in a meter, and save somebody from a ticket, maybe someday carma (and a kind person) will save me from a ticket too.

100 bucks , she should of given him a little taste instead

LOL... I did that once... put money in parking meters for folks, just ahead of the meter-maid. Needless to say the meter-maid threatened me with "Obstruction of Justice" charges. No problem... I told her to sue me, or find a cop willing to do all the paperwork for such a lame charge. Of course I wasn't dropping quarters in just one meter... but many, moving in the same direction as the meter-maid. It was fun, knowing a bunch of people wouldn't find tickets under their wipers. And it only cost me a few bucks... well worth the pleasure of helping others out. If you haven't tried it, don't knock it! :-)

Wow the ice queen actually did something nice? Her agent probably told her to be nicer to people in public....she is such a stuck up little princess...

I think Renee Zellwegger is a very talented actress and she seems to be very down to earth. I just have one question...Doesn't it seem a little coincidental, to say the least, that the cameras just "happened" to be there at the very moment that the "good deeds" were being done?

She should have just given him a hundred bucks in cash instead of a stupid gift card....how lame!

I used to give people change when I worked in Santa Monica, when they would run in to drop off their packages. They would say to me, "I will pay you back, and I would tell them, PAY IT FORWARD!.....and I meant it! A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS, actually does just as much, if not more for the giver than it does for the receiver.

Criticizing a person for the way they criticize another, smacks of hypocrisy folks!!
"Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own?"
