Katherine Heigl Discharged From 'Grey's Anatomy'?

Although
Katherine Heigl was scheduled to return to the 'Grey's Anatomy' set March 1 after three months of maternity leave, "she was not there," a source tells
PEOPLE.
Sources told
EW's Michael Ausiello that 'Anatomy' creator Shonda Rhimes has agreed to release Heigl from her contract. ABC Studios and Heigl's reps will then hash out a final exit agreement.
According to one EW source, Heigl "was at home and ready to return to work." Heigl had been home taking care of her new baby, Naleigh, whom she and husband Josh Kelley adopted from South Korea. The special-needs child "was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign," Heigl, 30, said when announcing the news of her adoption on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' back in September.
But another source adds that "talks between Heigl and ABC have been going on for months and last week both sides mutually decided that the best solution would be to part ways now as opposed to at the end of the season."
As a result, Heigl is not expected to return to the 'Grey's' set, which means her final episode as Izzie has already aired.
This comes after a tumultuous few seasons for Heigl.
In 2007, Heigl found herself in the middle of the TR Knight/Isaiah Washington feud when she publicly dissed Washington for repeating the F word at the Golden Globes.
Then in 2008, Heigl took a swipe at the series' writers when she announced that she wasn't entering the Emmy race because she "did not feel [she] was given the material... to warrant a nomination."

I am glad she's gone. She really doesn't have any talent. I have seen her in other films and she does not possess award winning talent.

Don't hate her because she's beautiful! Jealousy is just such an ugly emotion and yes, it IS jealousy that made you post.
She was one of my favorites. Meredith is the one who really drives me nuts. The show went thru a couple rough seasons but it's back on track now.
Tami, you take things way to seriously. How about she really isn't that talented? Opinion, not jealousy my dear. Not going to miss Izzie much, I was really over her part in Grey's....
oh I think she is beautiful and I enjoy her very much
I like her and I did think she was pretty. That said, after she defended TR, she began to sound like a schoolyard kid defending her friend (not that Washington didn't deserve a kick in the butt) and it got a bit annoying. Then the nose in the air attitude about the Emmys put the lid on it for me. She became less pretty and more childish.
Although I enjoyed her character on the show, I don't miss her and don't care for her personally.
Please don't call me jealous. There's no jealous bone in my body. Do I envy her? Of course! Jealous? Not at all.
I totally agree-she should have been fired a long time ago for sounding off. She should be thankful she had a job.
she or it is a no talent freak . I have seen street perfromers doing old Dylan songs that have more talent . That just shows you amerika will buy anything

Taking off three month for maternity leave, for an ADOPTION? Are we seriouse here? Maternity leave is for several reasons, for the mother to care for the infant, for the mother to recover her healthy from the delivery, early natal bonding, etc.... Adopting a child is not maternity. Heidi H. is another spoiled, big headed Hollywood type. Get back to work, or quit but stop using the system.

Guess you've never heard of the family medical leave act> even fathers can take maternity leave in the event of a birth or adoption. So yes she is allowed.
"for the mother to care for the infant"... your own words. Is she not caring for the infant because she adopted her? The FMLA protects adoptive parents and give them time to bond with their new baby and care for their new baby.
I knew that was from a guy, lol..........You need at least 3 monthes to BOND with the baby, even if adopted!
IGNORANT!!!
Peter, did your BRAIN take a leave of absence?
bonding with a child on a consistent basis is important in the first few months whether adopted or not and if you had read the story the child is both adopted from a foreign country and is a special needs child. I too believe KH should be leaving and good riddance although that show is lame all together. However, she's entitled to spend consistent time with the new special needs child in her life. Also, exactly how is "for the mother to care for the infant" and "early natal bonding, etc...." not in her case. Although she did not bond with the child in the first few hours of the child life it's still extremely important she bond as the new mother. You are not a woman or from the sounds of it undergone adoption. I would say you educate yourself a little more before making snap judgments. Tv star or no lots of families in the same situation do the same. You want them to be treated no different and yet you whine when they aren't. My two cents.
yeah, you're pretty ignorant. Shut up.
Did you miss the part where it said 'special needs' child? You think that's a walk in the park? I think she's doing the right thing by devoting her full attention.
Maybe you should read the whole article.
Then when they go back to work, there is no need to bond anymore, they leave that to the nanny!
Are you stupid? maternity leave is for any man or woman who take care of infants whether or not you give birth. Whether the child is adopted or biologically yours you still ove and care for the child. I hope you are not a parent.
