Just days after Corey Haim's family solicited donations to fund the late actor's burial, a celebrity memorabilia Web site, Startifacts, has announced they are "giving [Judy Haim] $20,000 directly from our own bank account to be used however she sees fit," Jon Hill, a manager for Startifacts.com, told E! News. The company will donate proceeds from their Haim-related auctions to help defray burial costs, including transporting his body to Toronto. Startifacts will present the actor's family with a check next week at his funeral, rather than wait until the auction items are sold. His family posted a thank you to all the fans who reached out with donations. "It appears that we may have now raised enough money to cover all expenses of Corey's funeral! Many thanks to Startifacts & all his caring fans & friends who sent in donations... The Haim family is very relieved to know that they will be able to lay Corey to rest at home in Canada," his family said in a statement on Haim's official Web site.
On March 11, his family urged fans to help pay for the funeral costs. "Corey's funeral will be taking place next week in his hometown of Toronto, Canada. Due to the unexpected expenses of transporting his body to Canada for final resting, a fund has been set up to help his family," Haim's family wrote on the Web site.
Haim, the former teen idol who rose to fame in 1980s classics 'The Lost Boys' and 'Lucas,' died Wednesday morning of an apparent drug overdose in Burbank, Calif., the LAPD has confirmed. He was 38. Haim collapsed in the Oakwood apartment belonging to his mother, who was at home at the time and called 911.
The final cause of death has been deferred pending toxicology and histopathology testing. The final report is expected in six to eight weeks.

Let the doctors and the dealers pay for it. Tell his Canadian family to use all they money that they have saved by not tipping in the United States to pay for it.
20 grand for a funeral ? did they get a casket made of gold ? this is almost as bad as the pedifile m. jacksons family having california paying for his !!!
Oh, he was Canadian? I didn't know that. That explains why he was such a loser. Why was he living in the US? He should have been living in Canada.
The hardest thing anyone can go through is losing a child, no matter the age, its tough to deal with. It makes it even harder when theres no money in the bank, and no life insurance to cover it. It great Corey's mother has had some help through this terrible time.
Corey and his mother, are in my prayers.

There's something really, really wrong with some of you people. The guy died. His family is grieving. So he's Canadian. Since WHEN does that make him less than human? Or that he doesn't deserve a funeral? What would you suggest they do, cremate him and bury him in a Moosehead box? What did he do to any of you, personally, that deserves this hate? He might not have made much money later in life.Or even blew it. Whatever the reason, he still deserves a funeral. And that was awesome of the website to donate to it. You mean spirited people would do well to learn kindness.
IS THIS A JOKE??? WHY IN THE HELL SHOULD ANYONE EXCEPT HIS FAMILY PAY FOR HIS FUNERAL OR TRANSPORTATOIN COSTS. LET HIS FAMILY DO IT OR CREAMATE HIM. Then ship that ashes to Toronto.
WHO IN THE HELL DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE TO SOLICIT MONEY TO HELP PAY FOR HIS FUNERAL.

Sad when your own family won't pay for your funeral.
Now that they can't mooch off their son they are going after his fans.
I agree with you 100%. I think his mother is really rude to ask the public to pay for anything for them. He made a ton of money where is it???
Condolences to the family, but with all the money he got acting and such...explain why anyone needs to donate to defray funeral costs? Do like the rest of the country does..if you cant afford to pay it...go to the bank and get a loan. I wish I had the guts to ask for public donations to help defray the cost of my mother in law's burial. But no...we didnt.

Do you guys not have a heart? No matter how he died, the mother has lost her son. I too find it strange that the are requesting donations to pay for the funeral. I see no need to be nasty in what you write, try walking in the mother's shoes, I can't imagine how she feels. My heart goes out to her and the rest of the family.
PUNISHER: Sounds to me you need to grow up & stop suckin mama's t%t. Just because you think your sh%* doesn't stink dosen't give you the right to judge people (ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE) & say what you said that was totally uncalled for. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN A#@HOLE. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY.
You people are so crass and heartless. This guy had a drug problem since he was a teenager. He couldn't kick the addiction. Probably a good chunk of his money went to buy drugs. Living where they do isn't cheap, either....they have the same everyday expenses that everyone else has, too. It doesn't matter where the money went -- the point is, it's gone and the family needed help to bury Corey. *No one* "had" to give money, but they wanted to....their business. I think it's nice that through all of the trial and tribulations of his short life, that he still had people/fans that cared for him. Don't judge this family until you've walked a mile in their shoes. God bless the kind-hearted people who donated to a family in need. Famous or not, he was loved no less than anyone else....and deserves a decent burial just like everyone else. My condolences to his family and friends.

Shut Up!
Sad situation for all involved, But I firmly believe, that if you have no money on the way out of this world, then the next of kin needs to economize and do a no frills cremation, or pay for a traditional funeral including transportation themselves!

I couldn't say it any better. When I pass away that's exactly what I requested a no frills, no wake cremation. I've worked over 24 years in a place that doesn't believe in any kind of benefits so should my family beg on the internet for a 20,000 funeral? I didn't blow all my money away. You can't have champagne taste if all you can afford is beer. Sad but true.
DID ANYBODY WATCH "THE TWO COREYS"? HE WAS SUCH A LOSER. VERY WEIRD AND AN A HOLE TO EVERYONE. THIS IS WHY HE HAD NO FRIENDS HE WAS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO BE AROUND. PAY FOR HIS FUNERAL..YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING. BURY HIM ON HOLLYWOOD AND VINE WITH THE REST OF THE NO TALENT LOSERS.HE CAN HANG OUT WITH ANNA NICOLE AND THE ENTIRE CAST OF SAVED BY THE BELL.

maybe he seemed really weird and an ahole because HE WAS ON DRUGS!! My guess is that you've (or many of the posters on here)never experienced knowing a true addict - or you wouldn't be saying the crap you are. Just because a person takes a wrong path in life, does that erase all of the good memories you had of them from before?? NO. I remember Corey from my youth and maybe he was before your time, to really appreciate what a good actor he was. I'm sad for him and his family, I'm sad for his mother, she probably remembers that little boy we all do - she never got to experience Corey clean and sober as an adult. but I don't think asking the public for donations is proper. You can have a really nice wake/funeral and then cremate him, for a lot less money. You do what you have to do, if someone dies and they hadn't prepared for it.
