Drew Barrymore: 'I Think I'd Be a Good Parent'

Drew Barrymore has done a lot of living in her 35 years. She became an international star for her performance in 'E.T.' at age 6, but found herself in rehab at 13. By 27, she was a a double divorcee. In recent years, the star has revamped her image, starring in hits like 'Charlie's Angels' and 'Grey Gardens,' for which she received Golden Globe and SAG awards.
In a new interview with the
Daily Mail, the star opens up about Botox, babies and why she's open to walking down the aisle again.
At one point in her career, the award-winning actress had more of a reputation for her free-spirited behavior -- she once infamously flashed her breasts to David Letterman in an appearance on his 'Late Show' -- than for her film career. However, the star has since cleaned up her act and grown into a respected actress, producer, director and co-founder of her own production company, Flower Films. Of her career transition, she says, "Starting my production company was a big turning point for me. I was accomplishing things and I found a real tribe -- the family I'd been looking for all those years. It's been a difficult time emotionally, but I'm happier now than I've ever been."
On ageism in the film industry: "I admit I've been fortunate. I'm not at that place yet, age-wise, and maybe when I am I'll feel that way. But I think, 'Get over it! Don't be bitter and complainy! Figure out something else to do with your life.' It sucks that it's sexist, and it sucks that it's not often the case for men, but you don't have to sit on the couch and be angry that you're not getting roles. Pick up a camera, work at a dog rescue home, become a writer -- there are a million things to do in this world."
On plastic surgery: 'F*** surgery! I'm so curious as to what's going to happen naturally that I can't imagine wanting to alter things just yet. And to all those women putting botulism in their faces -- we don't know what the long-term effects are, so stop! I'd rather look like a basset hound than do that to my face!"
On her relationships: "I will say that I'm happy... I guess it took me till my early 30s to figure that one out. Better late than never! But the relationships I've had have been great and I'm glad I had them."
On starting a family: "I'd never say never to marriage and kids... I'd definitely be the kind of parent who enabled my child's dreams. I'd just watch and nurture and guide them. I have the blueprints of what not to do... I think I'd be a good parent, actually."

Love Drew! And I admire her. Her childhood was horrible, but she made it and seems to be totally grounded.

I remember her on David Letterman or some other late night talk show insisting she jumped off a cruise ship & swam to an island. She was totally out of touch with reality. She's a flake. God help her future children.

Oh give me a break. The woman is 35 years old, why would she need botox? She doesn't know what the future will bring. At 35 and even 45 I had no wrinkles and no thoughts of botox or anything else. I'm in my 50's now and although I haven't done anything, I certainly see lines and signs of aging that I never thought I would see 10 years ago. She still thinks she is invincible and will never get old. It's a hypothetical for her. I'm sure sure that down the road she will cave in to (too many) cosmetic procedures like most of the women in Hollywood.
