Portia de Rossi Thinks Ellen is 'Amazing' on 'Idol'

With her talk show and multiple endorsement deals, Ellen DeGeneres may have a full plate, but a slight push from wife Portia de Rossi was all it took to get the comedienne onto the 'American Idol' stage. "I was like, 'Honey, that's it. Go get another job,'" de Rossi jokes.

In an interview with PEOPLE, de Rossi expressed her relief over not having her wife's job. "It's hard, especially when the contestants don't do that well because I know that she will be struggling to think of something positive to say to them... If I was up there, looking into the eyes of those young kids, I would probably be a pushover. I would be like a water-downed version of Paula [Abdul]. All I would be doing is applauding and telling them that they were magnificent all of the time."

The actress, who married DeGeneres in 2008, makes plenty of time to see her wife, despite their busy schedules, saying, "I'm a part of 'American Idol' now. I'm actually going to every taping of 'Idol' because it's really fun to be there and it's fun to support her. I'm just glad that I'm not a judge."

So, is de Rossi impressed with her wife's work? "She's very busy but she's very happy being busy. She's loving it, and I think she's doing amazing."

I'm sorry, but to be a wife denotes that you have a husband, and neither Portia DeRossi or Ellen Degenerate have a husband or are a husband. And let's get down to the real nitty gritty, Ellen is not good for American Idol, and I think once she showed up and got into it, Simon realized what a BIG, HUGE mistake it was to sign her for the show. Believe me, she won't be around next year. After Simon leaves, the show is going to go downhill fast. Face it, Simon Cowell is American Idol, and all the young hopefuls want Simon's blessing and approval. So Ellen (not a wife or husband) and Portia (not a wife) get real. It's wrong to be doing what you are and think it's gonna fly! If you have to ask permission from the state or government, then you already have your answer. Men and women don't have to get permission from the state to marry, they need only a license. Ellen needs to stick to doing her own show so she can do what she wants and be accepted there.

This is pretty much a non-story. Like what else was she gonna say? I like Ellen's talk show, but I think Idol is on the way out.
