Toronto to Foot Bill for Corey Haim Funeral?

When California taxpayers were told last year that they were going to have to foot the bill for
Michael Jackson's funeral, there was an uproar, especially considering the singer's substantial fortune.
Now, in a similar situation, rumours are swirling that the city of Toronto is going to pay for the funeral of 38-year-old 80s star
Corey Haim. The actor and sometime-heartthrob passed away last week.
Haim's mother Judy told
Access Hollywood that the city of Toronto will be footing some of the funeral's costs.
But Kevin Sack, Toronto's director of communication, said that he could neither confirm nor deny the claim because of privacy laws.
The city "does not confirm or comment on any potential, pending or active applications" for funding, Sack said. But a friend of Haim's, Michael Kronick, tells the
Toronto Star that he's been told the city may be paying for the burial plot.
A
PayPal account has been set up on the actor's website asking for donation for his family. A message says that the family was surprised by the cost of transporting Haim's body to his hometown of Toronto.

Kronick also told the Star that he was very upset that no one from the Hollywood community had stepped up to "fork out some money" to help give Haim a proper burial.
Haim shot to stardom after starring in vampire flick '
The Lost Boys' in 1987. The troubled star filed for bankruptcy in 1997.
A private family service is planned Tuesday at Steeles Memorial Chapel in Thornhill.

Canada looks after it's own...why put him in an unmarked grave in a potters field?

That is just crazy. He lives in the USA for all these years. Now we are to cover some of the cost for him to be buried here????
I'm sure his family has enough money.

Actually he constantly returned to Toronto and was still a Canadian citizen. His longest stint being clean and sober was there... and it is where hs should have stayed. Going back to LA was his first mistake and doing 'The Two Corey's' was the second. I think it would be nice if Kiefer Sutherland pitched in because 'The Lost Boys' helped make him famous (and he could afford the ten thousand), and Corey Feldman is not rich but I am sure he could at least buy him a head stone... if he really was his best friend.
How true of Canada taking care of its own. That makes me proud to be Canadian! True enough that Keifer Sutherland should pitch in. The "Lost Boys" was like the mini-rat pack and should be there for eachother in life and death.I hope that Corey Feldman is hanging in there.
Aftsr watching all the 2 Coreys (wish I was able to record it, and watching The Lost Boys, I still feel pride (all problems aside)
God Speed Corey
