Bret Michaels Says 'No Weirdness' About His Song With Miley Cyrus

Bret Michaels wants to clear up one thing about his new hit single, 'Nothing to Lose': It's not a romantic duet between him and Miley Cyrus, and anyone who says it's creepy or strange just doesn't have their head screwed on straight. "I want to straighten out a certain myth that was blogged. There is no weirdness, there is no strangeness," Bret told PopEater during his visit to our offices, during which he chatted about his 'Celebrity Apprentice' run (stay tuned this week for full interview!). Bret also talked about his new tune, which is the third most-added song on radio, and even belted out a performance of the song just for the PopEater faithful. Watch it below, and after the jump, his explanation about Miley's involvement.

His new single 'Nothing to Lose,' featuring Miley Cyrus: "It's a song that I originally wrote myself, and ended up in the studio ... Miley Cyrus is redoing 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' which is how this all started. I've known her and her family for a while ... and she's one of the the few pop superstars that will make it through for another 15 or 20 years because she can sit down and play piano, she can play guitar ... I played her 'Nothing to Lose' and everyone was in the studio, and she was in there with Liam and she's like, 'That's a beautiful song.' She said, 'Do you mind if I go in and sing some low harmonies and stuff on there?'"

On the Song's Controversy: "I want to straighten out a certain myth that was blogged. There is no weirdness, there is no strangeness. We were in the studio with about 20 people. It is not a duet. I believe the line that's coming is where I say in the song... I'm singing about a woman and part of myself, 'We slowly get undressed, we both know better than this,' and she sings, 'Yeah she does.' She's singing a harmony about the situation that me and this girl are going through, not what me and Miley are going through."

What's really weird is all these older singers falling all over themselves to work with Miley. They know it almost spells instant hit. The ads for Bret's concerts now advertise the song he did with Miley. Wish I could sing with Miley so I could retire. Besides Miley being a damn good singer she is very pretty.

Where's the controversy. All she is doing is singing harmonies. I think it will help Brett sell more records to younger people. I haven't heard the original version, but it sounds like a good song. Since when does age matter when two artists are involved? When did the subject of a duet have any parallels with the relationship of the two people singing? For those who think the song is about an older guy getting it on with a 17 year old: are you serious?! Get your heads out of the gutter. It's just a song, and a good one. Get a life! I've had enough of Miley Cyrus anyway. Put too much stock in lyrics.

Miley, will you stay and rock my world?

It's a good song and nothing wrong with Miley singing backup. Miley's a woman now anyway. And young teenagers are listening to stuff a lot more racy than this sweet song. But nobody probably would have heard it if not for Miley being on it. She did Bret a pretty big favor.

The only controversy is in the dirty little minds of right wing fundamentalists. They are always on the hunt - sticking their noses into other people's business. They will turn over every rock to look for some perceived dirt just so they can have a nice cleansing witch hunt.
