Jesse James Cheating on Sandra Bullock? Not So Fast

Pop-Ed: Sandra Bullock's Oscar buzz has officially been killed, thanks to a salacious report claiming her husband Jesse James cheated on her with ... wait for it ... a tattoo model named 'Bombshell.' Infidelity is all the rage when it comes to tabloids, but everything about this, from the woman making the claims to the timing of it all, just seems off. Our reasoning ... after the jump.

According to 'Bombshell' -- whose birth name is Michelle McGee -- she and James began a torrid affair while Bullock was away filming 'The Blind Side,' which she just won a Best Actress Oscar for. McGee tells In Touch Weekly that her fling with James lasted 11 weeks, five of which were sexual. Naturally, lurid detail about James' sexual endowment and prowess were included in her testimonial.

Before we go any further, we'll say this: We're not questioning In Touch Weekly's reporting, but the validity of Miss Bombshell's claims.

As if it's not enough to throw Bullock and James into the fray of a media frenzy, the sexual nicknames and other details given by McGee set off our BS sirens big time. Oversharing is always an indicator of attention-seeking. And where would a celebrity take his lover for an extramarital affair? His infamous West Coast Choppers shop, of course! Think about it: You've lied to seem cooler or more believable, when really, the opposite is true.

When Bullock and James first became a couple, we'll admit, it seemed like a terribly odd pairing. She's the America's sweetheart type, and he's the tattooed bad boy. Then, as their relationship developed and we got to know Jesse more, he emerged as a kind, caring soul, and we felt bad for judging the book by its inked-up cover. As Bullock swept up awards this year thanks to her 'Blind Side' turn, every speech involved an "I love you" of some sort to James, and when the camera panned to him, he couldn't be prouder of his leading lady.

That's where our next red flag was raised.

McGee, errr, Bombshell, claims that she had no idea that James and Bullock were still together. "I asked him, 'What's going on with you and Sandra?' He said, 'She doesn't live here. She has a house in Austin. She is filming, and I can't talk about it," McGee tells In Touch. If our timing is correct, this was all going down as Bullock, James and his ex-wife were all engaged in a bitter custody court battle over James' daughter. It wouldn't have been hard to find out if the two were still married, so even if James wouldn't fess up (that is, if one presumes this conversation actually took place), McGee opted for the homewrecker route rather than the researcher.

She then claims she and James had sex several times a week over five weeks. There's no reasoning given in the online version of the article as to why their alleged affair stopped. If indeed they were having an affair, why wait until now to come out with the allegations? Bombshell has had a year or so to 'fess up, but she waits until a week or so after Bullock's Oscars triumph to let loose?

The media uproar over the report has caused Bullock to cancel her upcoming press tour in London. While some may view her pull-out as a sign something is amiss with her relationship, chances are her publicity team is keeping her out of the constant barrage of questioning she'd be sure to face. In the meantime, they're also surely hatching a plan of denials and character assassination on Miss McGee, in addition to their statement of: "Due to unforeseen personal reasons, a trip abroad to support 'The Blind Side' has been deemed impossible at this time."

Still, as much as we think (and hope) that these rumors are totally bogus, if we learned anything from the Tiger Woods scandal, it's that even the least suspecting media figures can have demons in their closet. Let's just hope Jesse doesn't fall into that boat.

I don't condone what Jesse did, but by virtue of being an actress you cheat all the time with costars. Every time you turn on the TV you and your children have to watch your wife in kissing and in bed with other men and that has to take its toll. And for all those who say it's pretend, the kissing is REAL and being naked is REAL pressing against your costar in bed scenes. But, if it were not real then why do budding romances spawn between costars? Being an actor is just a license to cheat!
