Nicole Eggert Speaks Out on Corey Haim's Death

In the week since Corey Haim suddenly and tragically passed away, the outpouring of grief from his friends, family and fans has been massive.
Now, ex-girlfriend Nicole Eggert is speaking out to Life & Style about the actor's troubled life and his drug addiction, in quotes given exclusively to PopEater.
"He didn't want to die," Eggert says in the emotional interview.
More exclusive quotes and photos of Corey's last days after the jump!
Eggert, who dated Haim and also shared the screen with him in the steamy film 'Blown Away,' says that the late actor "was always open about having a drug-abuse problem. He didn't lie about it or hide it." She goes on to say that despite her affection for him, "it became hard over the years, staying close to a friend who was in a place like that."
Haim had been battling demons from an early age. He was molested by an unnamed adult at the age of 14, and Eggert tells Life & Style that was a spark for some of his issues. "He told me about it a few years after it happened ... But I don't want to name [his molester] out of respect for Corey."
Eggert goes on to say that even in his early days, Haim's fame gave him easy access to pretty much anything he wanted in Hollywood.
"When Corey was a minor, I'll tell you, I saw quite a few doctors and adults enable him. But there was always a deep friendship and a deep love between Corey and myself. I just want him to be happy and at peace," she said.
"I think his body just shut down, it gave up. Finally. If this is what it takes, then may he be in peace and not struggle anymore."
The Life & Style piece also contains personal photos given to the magazine by Haim's friend, Jake Perry (middle, between Haim and Corey Feldman, whom Perry worked for). To read more of Eggert's interview and for more photos of Haim,

we love cory and we will miss him
FUNNY HOW SO MANY USE THE ABUSED AS A CHILD to try and make up and divert attention for a drug user addict who just happened to be well known. The ONLY one to blame is Cory himself and NO ONE else. Im sure when he met his maker it was dealt with. I just pray he was a Christian and I hate it for his family and those who knew him

Jim, I hope that no one you know or love has ever been victimized sexually or physically by someone else. Yes, people do have issues due to childhood abuse. The best case scenario is that the victim is able to face those issues and not allow it to affect their life choices. The guilt and shame that is carried by the victim can be life paralyzing. Being sexually abused certainly doesn't condone bad behavior or bad choices; it certainly sheds light on a tragic situation/s. It's obviously something not everyone can face head on.
Jim, if you were a Christian you wouldn't speak this way. Agree with it or not, have empathy for him or not - he is a human being and last time I checked you weren't judge and jury. Think what you will but if you were so worried for his family's feelings you would show some respect for the dead and those he left behind.
Corey hasn't always been open about taking drugs,on "The Two Corey's", he denied taking drugs which lead to the fallout with Feldman but it was so obvious he was!

Corey will be missed by those who loved him. And the fact that he was abused as a child had everything to do with the addiction to drugs. If people would understand how devastating this is,maybe the Corey's in this world could be happy.

Take it to Oprah....geez.
Dude, your mama didn't raise you to have a little respect for the recently deceased? He may have been a junkie, but calling him one publicly before he is settled in his grave tells us more about you than it does him. As far as being 'subject' to reading about it, last I heard there were quite a few articles on Al Gore's Big Ole Internet that you could choose to read instead.

i just wanted to say i feel that the interview with nicole was ok up until the molesting question was asked. I don't feel that was right that the first person name that came out of your mouth was Michael Jackson. Michael was an angel on this earth and he was proved innocent on all charges of what he was accused of. The FBI had proof of that I read where they had done there own private investagation and they found that he had done nothing to any child. I feel that you owe his children and family apology for what you done and said. It seems that the media is still putting Michael down even in death and he isn't here to defend himself and i'm so tired of people putting him down. Let the man rest in peace. He had to put up with alot while he was alive for trying to do what he was known best for a kind heart and everyone wanted put him down for that. I feel that if everyone would have just listen to his lyrics to his music i think they would have understood him alot more then they did. My goal in life was to meet this man someday but that will never happen now because someone was to greedy. I would love to meet the kids someday and I hope that they have a wonderful fullfilled happy life. REST IN PEACE MICHAEL LOVED MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Excuse me Myra but Jackson was not found innocent. he was found not guilty...that does not mean he was innocent of the charges. but this story is not about him anyway. He was no angel...he was a human being with all the flaws humans have. As for Haim, it is sad that a 38 year old former child actor has lost his life. But he was no longer a child. His family put him in show business, a risky job for any kid. The pressures, the responsiblities...what a burden for a kid. Jackson is dead and gone, like Haim, a victim of excess and drug abuse.
You have ENTIRELY too much time on your hands. Besides, he's not dead. He and Elvis are on a beach sipping 7-7's with a bottle of Percocet...
It is always someone else's fault, we have to take responsibility for our own actions, he put the drugs in his system, he made a choice. Unfortunately he, even though it was prescription, took one pill too many.

Jane Velez-Mitchell on "Issues" has been doing a great job covering this story every night. She is in revoery from alcoholism. HLN channel just said she has new developments tonight. I'm addicted.

So many such as Corey - who my heart bleeds for as he was agood man caught in the cycle of trying to escape the mental torment - talk of abuse at young ages. I would guess it is a male who molested him, thus it's not "celebrated" and kept quiet, and I have a serious issue with this. Say ANYTHING one wants, but the bisexual and homosexual men especially turn to more perversion and tend toward attacking the young boys, an example is so many pervs that head to Thailand etc to get their fix. I found such great irony lately when the former producer of "Growing Pains" was arrested on child porn charges - something Kirk Cameron had alluded to and talked about yet was laughed at because he was a "Christian" and NOW it's actually true! Perverts WILL seek out young boys thus I agree that boy scouts should keep gays out. Are some just good people, of course, but a high % are not and they would go there to FIND boys - just like a 14 year old Corey. Sad.
