Actress-turned-math wiz Danica McKellar and her husband, Mike Verta, are "bursting" to tell people that they are expecting their first child later this fall. The former 'Wonder Years' star tells PEOPLE she's nearing the end of her first trimester and is "so excited" about being a mom. She initially put off finding out about the pregnancy because she was busy finishing writing her upcoming book 'Hot X: Algebra Exposed,' which comes out in August.
"I wanted to put off the [pregnancy] test because I didn't want any distractions. That only lasted a day -- I couldn't stop thinking about it and I caved! You can't try to put that off."

That's correct...Me and Mike or Mike and Me, Mike and I is not...
Oh, alex, you are so wrong. The way to look at it is to take out the word "Mike," and what you have left is "Me...looked..." Does that sound right to you? If so, you need more English lessons.

The correct grammar should be "Mike and I looked at each other.." Not Me and Mike, nor Mike and me. It would be correct to use Mike and me is used at the END of the sentence but not at the beginning. Think of it this way. Leave of the words MIKE AND, then see what makes sense. Obviously the sentence structure would have to be changed as it states that the two of them looked at each other, so consider it this way. "Mike and I were so excited about the baby". If MIKE AND were left off the correct sentence should then read "I was so excited about the baby". It would not read "ME was so excited about the baby". However, if used at the end of the sentence then the use of ME would be correct. As in this example "The news of our baby excited Mike and me". When taking off MIKE AND in this case, it is clear that the word ME would be used and not I as is often incorrectly used. Think "The news of our baby exicted ME" not I. Ok, English lesson over. More than you ever wanted or needed to read I know.

My Own Correction: In my haste to submit I had a couple of typos that I should've caught before sending. My apologies.

My Own SECOND Correction: In my haste to submit I had a couple of typos that I should've caught before sending. Once again, my apologies. I'm at home ill with the flu so I'm not up to my normal self at the moment. Poor excuse but I digress.

Well, now. If'n I didn't already feel old, Winnie is pregnant. It feels like I'm going to be a grandmother.
Best of luck to the expecting parents and I wish you a healthy, happy delivery. Love, Grandma Moses

She might be a math wizz, but her grammar and usage could use some help. Congratulations to them, but I hope her book has an editor.

Lynne....."people should keep their narrow-minded opinions to themselves"?? Isn't THAT a matter of opinion? This is a public forum. Just because someone doesn't believe the way you do doesn't mean they're narrow-minded or have less of a right to post than you. If someone wrote that she should have first had the child and then saw what kind of father the guy was before marrying, what would you say? Would that be a "narrow-minded" opinion or a more enlightened view of things? If you're a liberal, just say so. Don't hide it behind a statement cloaked in something that is supposed to appear as a well balanced out middle-of-the-road, "hey, I'm one of them, but...." thought.

Congrats Danica and Mike. It's so refreshing to hear that a celebrity first marries and then has a child. It's very unusual for someone in the business to have the morals that she and Mike have. Another celebrity whom I admire is Mariska Hargitay. All doing the right thing.

Mr. McKellar, thank you for clarifying, and thank you for raising such an intelligent, mature and beautiful young lady. For those of you who think we're being 'judgemental,' it's not a matter of morality -- it's a matter of making sure a child has the best environment possible in which to blossom. Children are vulnerable little creatures and yes, can be damaged. Why not let your child -- your future, the passing on of your genes -- have the best advantage? Why NOT try to raise healthy, normal children -- why mess things up before they're even born, and make them cope with all the disruption, stress, and conflict, without having had an input in the decisions? I hope Danica and her husband have many children, to offset all the other deadbeat parents out there....

Congratulations to them both! Yes, she is a math whiz, not an English major, but it should have been "Mike and I are so excited."
