Poison frontman and rock 'n' roll-turned-reality superstar Bret Michaels is going prime time, throwing the brakes on his 'Rock of Love' bus and jumping into Donald Trump's boardroom for the new season of 'Celebrity Apprentice.' Bret stopped by the PopEater offices to chat about his new show, and how nobody took him seriously ... until he won the first challenge. "They're like, 'This guy can drink, be on stage with pyro and suck face. I don't think he's going to bring much to our business group.' I like to think that I have hopefully proven some of that wrong. I think a few people totally underestimated me," Bret told PopEater. Watch the full interview below, and after the jump, Bret plays his new hit song for us!
PRODUCTION PLAYER! DO NOT DELETE.
Going From 'Rock of Love' to 'Celebrity Apprentice': "After three seasons of 'Rock of Love,' it was a nice break for my lips. I don't want too much of a break... a little suck face break, but I wanted to go in and show there's another side that can work real hard and get it done, and I'm a life-long juvenile diabetic, so taking four injections a day and, as I just did right before this, probably six to eight blood tests a day. I really have a strong cause and I'm in there fighting for it."
On His 'Apprentice' Odds: "I'm probably going in thinking they're all looking at me and thinking I'm the weakest link. They're like, 'This guy can drink, be on stage with pyro and suck face. I don't think he's going to bring much to our business group.' I like to think that I have hopefully proven some of that wrong. I think a few people totally underestimated me."
His Rock Star Moment: "I threw a tantrum. I'll be honest -- I threw a rock star style tantrum. But I figured that was par for the course. I busted a few things and ruined the life of a few Melba toast deli trays."
His new single 'Nothing to Lose,' featuring Miley Cyrus: "It's a song that I originally wrote myself, and ended up in the studio... Miley Cyrus is redoing 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' which is how this all started. I've known her and her family for a while ... and she's one of the the few pop superstars that will make it through for another 15 or 20 years, because she can sit down and play piano, she can play guitar ... I played her 'Nothing to Lose,' and everyone was in the studio and she was in there with Liam and she's like, 'That's a beautiful song.' She said, 'Do you mind if I go in and sing some low harmonies and stuff on there.'"
On the Song's Controversy: "I want to straighten out a certain myth that was blogged. There is no weirdness, there is no strangeness. We were in the studio with about 20 people. It is not a duet. I believe the line that's coming is where I say in the song... I'm singing about a woman and part of myself, 'we slowly get undressed, we both know better than this,' and she sings, 'Yeah she does.' She's singing a harmony about the situation that me and this girl are going through, not what me and Miley are going through."
sit there and study a crowd of people what do you see interaction expression emotion ..life in its natural flow all different all moving a symphony lol a pose is a pose
To tell ya the truth He couldnt answer you because he didnt know what to do in the first place just like a lead instead of listining to everyone and haveing a game plan for the "TEAM" it was all about him so Ill just ignore you
The Kodak moment gig I would have said no one gets it you lost the gig no contract its as plastic as the mean things I can say or anyone else for that matter and nobody likes that now do they everyone chose to be the celeb that a pic with me make some props and pose Id toss the photos in the trashcan along with the idea now who wants hair
Now take ol donny osmond over there now thats a true kodak moment you could have taken multi frames and got alot of expression and emotion everyone can relate to just like goin into court then leaving it front steps or back or how about the happy housewife whats er name hey americas got talent so wheres she from yea ol donny he'll say anything to make everyone happy look at the nose and of course what is he well I really cant stand this show I think its the first time I watched it
I can't say I'm a friend of rocker Bret Michaels but I have to admire his courageous life-long battles against diabetes. I was diagnosed with the disease 3 months ago and its no fun having to draw your blood every day. Luckily, I don't need the insulin shots but I've had to change my dietary lifestyle. I pray for his recovery.
Whether you like Bret Michaels or not, he is still a young man and has a daughter that he loves very much. I think we should be thinking of them bith at the moment wish him well. Our prayers are with you
