Anna Nicole Smith Estate Shut Out of Oil Fortune

A federal appeals court says Anna Nicole Smith's estate will receive none of the more than $300 million that she claimed her late billionaire husband had promised her. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is the latest stop in the 15-year legal battle over the $1.6 billion estate that oil magnate J. Howard Marshall left following his 1995 death at age 90.

Smith, who died of a drug overdose in 2007, had married Marshall the previous year and argued that he meant to leave her more than $300 million.

A Texas state court ruled against Smith and in favor of Marshall's son, who argued the model should receive nothing. A federal bankruptcy court in Los Angeles later awarded her $474 million, which a federal trial court later reduced to $89 million.

Lawyers for the son's estate say they hope the litigation is at an end with Friday's ruling.

Well, Anna Nicole's mother will probably drop her suit to gain custody of little Dannielynn. I'd bet anything. That woman was ON that, which is funny considering her and her daughter weren't even on speaking terms. But I'm sure the thought of all that loot was a strong lure.

Did he [promise] it to her or [will] it to her. I'm no attorney but there's a difference between verbal and written with signature. If he did will for her, perhaps it was meant for while she was alive.

His son SHOULD get it....and Anna Nicole Smith was the gold digger....dont tell me that she married this man for love...give me a break...she married him because he had money. I dont blame his family for fighting this....she deserved NOTHING and the supreme court thought so too...

Actually his son is dead, as is the son's wife. So it's the grandchildren of J. Howard Marshall that are pursing this. I would think her estate is entitlled to something as she was still married to him at his death. But, you know those with money will do ANYTHING to keep every penny.

Smith's estate is entitled to no money as she was a country bunkin white trash fat gold digger. The court's ruling served justice and will sent a message to all those greedy lawyers and poor people seeking financial gains. Smith was a porker too.

You don't have the power to delete anything. Nor can you spell. Nor does you poorly worded post make any sense. It is the lawyers that stand to make the very most out of this. Nobody else, just the lawyers. How this latest turn in a long running trial is going to change that fact is apparently known only to you and your bizarre logic. If we can assume you have any logic. Nothing you have had to post so far indicates that you do.

Whatever the issues are here in this case. I do know that justice has NOT ben served. I thought that the son who brought the case against Anna Nicole Smith/Marshall died. Is this another son who has prevailed in this case? Howard Marshall had two sons?
Now that Anna and her beloved son, have passed away, the judge probably figured why award money to Anna's other child, her beloved daughter. The woman was legally married to Howard Marshall. I'd love to read the brief filed by the plaintiff.

Anna Nicole Smith and neither of J Howard Marshall's sons were mentioned in his will .. I always thought it strange that neither of his children were mentioned.

She deserves NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nor does her child.... the child was not Marshalls..I dont care if she was married to him when he died...she only married him for his money. Greedy gold digging hillbilly...

How easy it appears for you to decide what people you don't even know do or do not deserve. So what if she married him for his money. What do you think he married her for? They both got what they wanted and the rest of it is really none of our business. I find it so very interesting how high and mighty people get in placing judgment on other peoples lives. This woman's life and death has obviously pushed one of your buttons.
