Anna Nicole Smith Estate Shut Out of Oil Fortune

A federal appeals court says Anna Nicole Smith's estate will receive none of the more than $300 million that she claimed her late billionaire husband had promised her. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is the latest stop in the 15-year legal battle over the $1.6 billion estate that oil magnate J. Howard Marshall left following his 1995 death at age 90.

Smith, who died of a drug overdose in 2007, had married Marshall the previous year and argued that he meant to leave her more than $300 million.

A Texas state court ruled against Smith and in favor of Marshall's son, who argued the model should receive nothing. A federal bankruptcy court in Los Angeles later awarded her $474 million, which a federal trial court later reduced to $89 million.

Lawyers for the son's estate say they hope the litigation is at an end with Friday's ruling.

That's a crying shame. Sad that she died but sad that after all these years it wasn't at least halfed with the child who's mom deserved it. She apparently loved this man and he loved her. I think the son is a creep.

Prostitution is illegal, even when it is disguised as marriage! No way does a Playboy centerfold and Playmate of the year marry a 90 year old man for "love". Senile old man, probably thought he was in heaven when she showered him with her "enhanced toys". Glad that the wisdom of the court saw through her sham story. Now the estate can go to the deserving grand children who are the proper heirs. Gold diggers beware, finally a story with a proper ending.

Whether you like her or not, whether she married him for his money or not, she was still legally married to him and an heir to his estate.
What happened to the 89million she was entitled to? The child has nothing to do with "his" estate and would only receive any money through Anna's estate, as her sole heir.
But to say she was not entitled to anything is wrong- she was married to him, right, wrong or indifferent. Anyone would argue their point if it were reversed.
She does deserve something as his legal wife.
