Rosie O'Donnell Planning Return to Daytime TV

Watch out, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Rosie O'Donnell is headed back to daytime TV.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed reports that the multiple Emmy-winning host has teamed with Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin for a syndicated talk show that would launch after Oprah Winfrey's exit in fall 2011.

Showbiz 411 first broke the news yesterday, with sources claiming that O'Donnell was overheard at a New York restaurant talking about a deal that is "almost done" to return to daytime.

The news should come as little surprise to daytime followers, considering the overwhelming success she had as host of the 'Rosie O'Donnell Show.' The show ran from 1996 to 2002, and won the famous funnywoman a slew of awards, including six-consecutive Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show Host.

In Sept. 2006, O'Donnell returned to daytime as a panelist on ABC's 'The View,' and was the subject of much controversy, including a highly publicized feud with Donald Trump. A few months later, she engaged in an on-air spat with co-host Elisabeth Hasselback over the Iraq War, which led to O'Donnell's abrupt and permanent departure from the show.

Recently, O'Donnell filmed guest spots on a number of popular TV series, including Lifetime's 'Drop Dead Diva,' 'Nip/Tuck' and the HBO comedy 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.'

Not again, I would not watch her show if she was the only tv show on the air. The rumors are she will be taking over oprah show. Big mistake abc. Put the view there instead.

I do not understand why the network is doing this. Rosie had a great show in the 90's and the early 2000's, but now her image is not that of the kind humurous lady anymore. Now she is seen as a Very Angry woman. The anger that spills out if you disagree with her politics or her stand on gay marriage is unreal. Apparently her stand on TOLERANCE is only if you agree with her. I do not wish her hurt or harm, and I hope her chidren do very well in life, but the creators of this show should read the handwriting on the wall. Give someone else a shot at stardom. Rosie's light has been dimmed by her own hand.

I find it amusing that the "ROSIE SUPPORTERS" think that JUST THEIR OPINIONS should matter.

We have the right to express our opinions - as anti Rosie buffs -and if that is rude, too bad. She is a an unconscionable slob who deserves nothing. As for her so-called generosity, prove to us that it was Rosie who provided funds - AND NOT HER SPONSORS. What she may have done personally, most likely was no more than what many, many celebrities have done. To follow the GREAT Oprah - what a shame and sham. NO THANKS !!!

You can file this rosie idea right next to moveing Jay Leno to primetime.You would have to strap me down and hold my eyes open with toothpicks to get me to watch rosie. I will set my TV to block what ever network airs her show.

I watched her show before and will watch it again.It was enjoyable and i agreed with her about the Iraq war.

She is loud,crude and tacky. Why would anyone with a mind want to watch that mess? Even if I did watch I certainly would not admit it. I would rather clean my bathroom than waste my time watching her.

Rosie definitely has some major demons lurking inside of her. I considered her a funny lady at one time but when she escalated into this mean, vicious, rude, condescending and arrogant person, I lost total respect for her as a person and professional. She needs to shut her mouth, keep her opinions to herself and either entertain or leave the biz. There's too much tension and hate in the world without Rosie adding to it. In short, she's a loud mouth bully who throws some pretty nasty tantrums when she doesn't get her way or if people oppose her views. The woman needs to get some psychological help and grow-up.

I thinks she's a self center person. She won't even give a adult a autograph. What does she think made her a celebrity ? It sure in the hell wasn't because of the children. She started out years ago in bars and in night clubs. Now she's thinks she's too good to give any one that ask her autograph. Unless your a child. What parent in their right mind would want their child to have her autograph anyway ? I KNOW I DON"T !
