'American Idol' Alum Tamyra Gray Is Expecting a Baby

'American Idol' alumnus Tamyra Gray is expecting a baby in July, reports Entertainment Weekly.

"I'm just trying to take care of myself and enjoy it," says Gray. "This is way harder than Idol." Gray finished fourth on season one of Fox's smash music competition.

The child will be the first for Gray, 27, and her husband, music producer Sam Watters, 36, a former member of 90s R&B group Color Me Badd. The couple wed on Valentine's Day in 2006 on the island of Capri, Italy.

Gray said the couple does not plan to find out the sex of the baby.

Since 'Idol,' Gray has become an actor, appearing on 'Boston Public' and in the indie film 'The Gospel.' She's also appeared on Broadway in 'Rent' and 'Bombay Dreams.' Watters has written and produced songs for Jessica Simpson, Celine Dion and Kelly Clarkson.

There is no word on whether Simon Cowell will be chosen to be the baby's godfather.

Congrats. That baby will surely have a talent for singing. A note for the writer of the article - Tamyra is an alumna - not alumnus. Latin roots ending in "us" are masculine and "a" is feminine - she's female.

congrats to Tamara and her husband on the impending birth of their first child of course it's not like celebs or regular people in general conceiving a child out of wedlock isn't a new thing it's happened for 60 years known in film for instnace academy award winner Sophia Loren had her first miscarriage while her marriage to the babies father was annualed to protect him from Bigamy charges in Italy then they remarried in 1966 she had another more traumatic miscarriage in 1967 and then their two sons December 29th 1968 & January 6th 1973
