James Cameron Plays With Fire, Calls Glenn Beck a Raving 'Madman'

James Cameron thinks Glenn Beck is a dangerous "madman" with "poisonous" ideas, but he'd love to have a dialog with him, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Oh, Beck will have a dialog alright, but it will likely involve a chalkboard and the words "socialist" and "progressive."

The 'Avatar' director lashed out at FOX News' increasingly influential star at a press conference supporting the DVD release of his hit film, but the mood got dark when he was asked about Beck. "Glenn Beck is a f*****g a**hole. I've met him. He called me the anti-Christ and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it."

The famously blunt Oscar winner was likely referring to Beck's reaction to his 2007 documentary 'The Lost Tomb of Jesus,' which casts doubt on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Later, Cameron toned down the rhetoric while further discussing Beck: "I think, you know what, he may or may not be an a**hole, but he certainly is dangerous, and I'd love to have a dialog with him."

When asked to expand on why he believes Beck is dangerous, he explained, "Because his ideas are poisonous."

"I couldn't believe when he was on CNN. I thought, what happened to CNN? Who is this guy? Who is this madman? And then, of course, he wound up on Fox News, which is where he belongs, I guess."

Keep an eye out for Beck's response on either his radio show or on FOX.

Camron is a Hack! Who cares what he thinks, he's Afraid of Glen Beck. He is from Hollywood...........that pretty well explains it.

while the story is pretty meaningless, i'm struck by how much Beck is starting to physically look like a hitlerian figure. It's something to do with the haircut, his pudginess, and the bad suits.

Cameron is afraid of Beck? Vulgar and violent attacks by a Hollywood celebrity don't influence me regarding the attacked - just the attacker. Why would Beck be a topic of discussion at a promo for a movie? Someone has an agenda based on personal opinion. Who cares what Cameron's opinion is on any subject? He makes money pandering reflecting the currently politically correct positions - he has no influence on what the positions are or will be.

Cameron should stick to movies and try making something that deals less with technology and more with a thoughtful story. Avatar was nothing more than a western set in the future, a blatant allegory on the Indian Wars of the latter 19th Century, replacing American Indian mysticism with modern day environmental religion, and saying nothing new or better than what Hollywood did 50 years ago. Cameron should spend more time studying and interpreting history and less time just copying it. Then maybe Glenn Beck wouldn't "scare" him!

Well, it's funny..only people with conservative views are ever labeled as crazy.....but we don't ever label the Hollywood a**holes as crazy or the 3 stooges running our government as crazy. Watch Glen Beck, watch CNN, research the facts, make your own decisions and then get involved before this administration takes over the whole country. All of you Glen Beck Lovers are as nuts as he is. Listen and learn from him? He is making millions off you sheep and laughing all the way the way to the bank. He worked in Tampa on talk radio before anyone knew who he was back in 1999 The only thing he talked about was his heavy drug use and booze,Everyday same old BS lost his wife so on and so on, guess he wanted everyone to feel sorry for him. He found out the more stupid thing he would say the more people listen.You get more real info from the cartoon network!!

What do you expect from a dude who makes movies about "blue" people? Listen Cameron, no one wants to hear your views on politics....stick with what you know dude. Really sorry you lost that award and probably the multi millions that went along with it but don't take your sore loser self out on GLENN. REAL Americans (you know, the ones that buy tickets to your movies in the fly over states) listen to Glenn because he's good at what he does and is incredibly intelligent. We do not expect you to either understand or be able to follow it...but at least he has more class than to hurl names at you in a public interview. That says alot.

I love Glenn Beck. He cares about our country just like so many of us "regular folks". He believes in God and is not ashamed to say so. He quotes the bible, scary huh! If he cries, it's because he's so passionate and cares so deeply about what he believes. He only needs a chalkboard and chalk to assist him in teaching factual history not politically correct history. It's VERY refreshing. Mr. Cameron seems to be a cynical liberal and not a very kind person.... Enough said.

I wouldn't call Beck stupid, he is smart in the sense that he knows the gullible fringe will funnel all their disposable dollars to him, watching his tv farce, buying his ancillary products. He trades on inciting the haters but will quickly deny them once things turn sour. However, what is obvious is that the republican party has opened pandoras box and cannot close it. Good move, in the next 8-9 months this will backfire on the right. Yes you can write anything you want on the internet, but that does not make it fact. Of course republicans will claim this works for them, did anyone expect them to think they wouldn't? The media only cares about the next hot story and will flog anything they can put on tv. When it gets down to crunch time, thats when the rubber hits the road and the right will suddenly understand they blew it.
