TLC Decides to Explore 'Sarah Palin's Alaska'
By PopEater Staff Posted Mar 25th 2010 09:56AM
'Sarah Palin's Alaska,' an eight-part documentary "about the remarkable Governor Palin and her home state of Alaska," will air on the TLC network, Discovery announced Thursday morning. The network was careful to describe it not as a reality show, but rather a travelogue that will "reveal Alaska's powerful beauty as it has never been filmed, and as told by one of the state's proudest daughters."

The announcement (via Media Decoder) does not specify when the first episode will air and notes that the show's title could even change. Discovery chose TLC over its namesake channel for the series, and now 'Alaska' will join its slate of popular shows, which include 'LA Ink' and '19 Kids and Counting.'
Palin is a vocal skeptic of hot-button issues like global warming, evolution and Barack Obama's presidency, but Discovery is confident the former vice presidential candidate will not make the show about her personal views on politics or science.
"TLC is about strong characters and compelling narratives, and there is absolutely no intention of making a political program whatsoever," the spokesman said following the announcement.
Palin and executive producer Mark Burnett went on the road this month to pitch the idea of a show, but were turned down by all the broadcast networks. Just this week, reports surfaced that Palin and Burnett were negotiating with both Discovery and A&E, with A&E ultimately passing, like the broadcast networks, because of the show's $1.2 million per episode cost. It's been noted that the show's steep asking price would have negated the cost benefits associated with the reality genre.
Since stepping down from her governorship last summer, Palin has stayed relatively active on the small screen, including high-profile interviews on 'Oprah' and, more recently, 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,' where she did a bit of stand-up comedy. In January, she booked an exclusive, multi-year deal with FOX News to offer political commentary on a variety of its shows. She made her official FOX News debut a few days later on 'The O'Reilly Factor.'

Get past the politics and look at the beauty of Alaska. It is fantastic.

Sarah is an OPPORTUNIST! If she loved AK so much, she would not have quit her job. I agree AK is beautiful..but the Sponsors should get another spokesperson and the show would really get ratings instead of people avoiding there show/products!
True, Alaska is beautiful. Sadly it will be spoiled by the appearance of a very ugly woman, Sarah Palin.
You got that right! Great to see someone who is adult about it!
I'll watch, liberals don't care about the beauty of Alaska so go watch Obama do his 5000th speech or something.

Liberals like to visit Alaska, but not Sarah " Dumb " Palin, so if this show was moderated by someone else, anytime, but lately TLC has shows, like the Duggars, who over populate an already over populated world. Used to love TLC especially those renovating shows. But as we all know, lately they pick out uneducated losers.
Right on the money!
I adore Alaska. Been there many many times and plan to go again. The beauty of Alasks is a stark contrast to the blackness & death that is Sarah Palin's soul. [or lack thereof] For me she has ''peed'' all over AK. She's an extremist, out of touch, bible thumping breedcow. Not to mention a moron.
Spot on, Bonbon.
There, there, Delaney, Palin frightens you because she has courage and integrity. People like you have none, so she scares you.
Valeskas...Sarah is dumb? She was Governor of Alaska. She took on the Good Ol' Boys and won. She balances motherhood and career. She was a contender for VP of the U.S.A. What have you ever done, Bevis?
Yes, it's the evil liberals who are itching to taint Alaska's scenery with more oil drilling that will only provide a 6-month net supply for Amurrica.
It's the evil liberals who are constantly wanting to build roads in the last vestiges of wilderness in the lower 48, etc.
Yes indeed, today's religious conservatives are all about nature and preservation, not mining, drilling, trophy hunting, oversized trucks, ignoring science, citing themselves as the Chosen Ones, and practicing general gluttony.
Don't they have a lot of that black slimy stuff called oil up there? We sure could use some down here. Drill, baby, drill !

Why do we have to send all of Alaska's oil to Japan Sarah???

You've got to be kidding, why would I watch a women who dosen't have a brain in her empty head. She has shown America she is just plain ignorant, you betcha.

You are the empty head. How stupid can she be: ran a business, was a mayor, a governor (and took on Big Oil), does speeches, writes books, writes blogs, and now a TV show. Yeah she's a real idiot...just because she didn't know the "Bush Doctrine" which nobody else knew either. She smarter than you, sparky...that much I know.
Grammie,
You should learn to spell simple words before you call somebody ignorant. (doesn't)
And you, grammie, are a genius?
Easy to sit behind your monitor and crank your crap out, isn't it.
President Palin, President Palin...just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it.
YEAH, someone with courage and integrity. Scary, isn't it, after this present administration.
If they feed her to a polar bear, I'll watch.

LOL!!! I'm with you! That would make for some GOOD TV!
Love, love, love your remark.
